Coroner rules child died from fentanyl, xylazine in Richmond home where parents were found with illegal drugs The coroner said a 14-year-old boy who was found unresponsive last month at his Richmond home died as a result of illegal drugs, which prosecutors previously said his parents brought into the house.

It is UNACCEPTABLE to put our children in a position where they are burdened with the responsibility of their own, or another family member's, safety and well-being.

As we mourn the loss of Jayden, we must also confront the harsh reality that his death was preventable. This tragedy serves as a call to action to reform policies, strengthen interventions, and prioritize the safety and well-being of children and their families. Only through concerted efforts to address the root causes of such failures can we hope to honor the lost lives of many children, and prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
