It's is said that America is only 3 days from chaos. (9 meals) imagine if you had no stability in life. Had to wait in line a line for every meal.
Now what of that was taken away.

I spent most of the evening handing out lunches try to give a little stability to those who do not have much of it in there lives.

Well this is another, disappointment.

The Office on Domestic Violence continues to house and oversee the operation of the City of Chicago Domestic Violence Help Line. The Help Line is a 24-hour, toll-free confidential number that functions as a clearinghouse for domestic violence services and information.

The Help Line is used by:

Victims
Concerned family and friends
Perpetrators of domestic violence
Helping professionals
Health care workers, faith leaders, police officers, and prosecutors


Established in 1998, Mayor's Office on Domestic Violence contracts with the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Womens Network to operate the Help Line. Callers to the Help Line are provided with general domestic violence information, referrals to appropriate domestic violence services and a three-way phone linkage between the caller and the domestic violence services. Trained domestic violence advocates – Victim Information and Referral Advocates (VIRAs) – staff the phones 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. VIRAs provide victims with immediate information about their options, information on safety planning, referrals to community based providers including:

Shelters
Counseling
Legal advocacy
Civil legal services
Supervised child visitation centers
Perpetrators services

Bi-lingual and bi-cultural Spanish speaking VIRAs are always available and operators can access the Language Line for over 140 other languages. A TTY is available for speech and hearing impaired callers. The Help Line's database consists of over 170 local domestic violence resources, and counselors are able to navigate these various services to identify and link callers to the most appropriate and accessible program. The Help Line provides immediate information and direct links to community-based resources to almost 3,000 callers a month.

Anyone can be a victim of domestic violence. There is NO "typical victim." Victims of domestic violence comes from all walks of life, varying age groups, all backgrounds, all communities, all education levels, all economic levels, all cultures, all ethnicities, all religions, all abilities, and all lifestyles.

Victims of domestic violence do not bring violence upon themselves, they do not always lack self-confidence, nor are they just as abusive as the abuser. Violence in relationships occurs when one person feels entitled to power and control over their partner and chooses to use abuse to gain and maintain that control. In relationships where domestic violence exists, violence is not equal. Even if the victim fights back or instigates violence in an effort to diffuse a situation. There is always one person who is the primary, constant source of power, control, and abuse in the relationship.

What Makes a Relationship Abusive?
Every relationship differs, but what is most common within all abusive relationships is the varying tactics used by abusers to gain and maintain power and control over the victim. Nearly three in ten women and one in ten men in the United States have experienced r**e, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner (or former partner) and reported at least one impact related to experiencing these or other forms of violence behavior in the relationship (e.g. feeling fearful, concern for safety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), need for health care, injury, crisis support, need for housing services, need for victim advocacy series, need for legal services, missed work or school).

Physical and sexual assaults, or threats to commit them, are the most apparent forms of domestic violence and are usually the actions that make others aware of the problem. However, regular use of other abusive behaviors by the abuser, when reinforced by one or more acts of physical violence, make up a larger scope of abuse. Although physical assaults may occur only occasionally, they instill fear of future violent attacks and allow the abuser to control the victim's life and circumstances.

Patterns of Abuse
Illustrations of the power and control wheel and the post-separation power and control wheel are particularly helpful tools in understanding the overall pattern of abusive and violence behaviors used by abusers to establish and maintain control over their partners both within and following a relationship. Very often, one or more violence incidents are accompanied by an array of these other types of abuse. They are less easily identified, yet firmly establish a pattern of intimidation and control in the relationship.

Abuse is cyclical. There are periods of time where things may be calmer, but those times are followed by a buildup of tension and abuse, which usually results in the abuser peaking with intensified abuse. The cycle then often starts to repeat, commonly becoming more and more intense as time goes on. Each relationship is different and not every relationship follows the exact pattern. Some abusers may cycle rapidly, others over longer stretches of time. Regardless, abusers purposefully use numerous tactics of abuse to instill fear in the victim and maintain control over them.

How Does Abuse Affect Victims?
Domestic violence affects all aspects of a victim's life. When abuse victims are able to safely escape and remain free from their abuser, they often survive with long-lasting and sometimes permanent effects to their mental and physical health; relationships with friends, family, and children; their career; and their economic well-being.

Victims of domestic violence experience an array of emotions and feelings from the abuse inflicted upon them by their abuser, both within and following the relationship. They may also resort to extremes in an effort to cope with the abuse. Victims of domestic violence may:

Want the abuse to end, but not the relationship
Feel isolated
Feel depressed
Feel helpless
Be unaware of what services are available to help them
Be embarrassed of their situation
Fear judgement or stigmatization if their reveal the abuse
Deny or minimize the abuse or make excuses for the abuser
Still love their abuser
Withdraw emotionally
Distance themselves from family or friends
Be impulsive or aggressive
Feel financially dependent on their abuser
Feel guilt related to the relationship
Feel shame
Have anxiety
Have suicidal thoughts
Abuse alcohol or drugs
Be hopeful that their abuser will change and/or stop the abuse
Have religious, cultural, or other beliefs that reinforce staying in the relationship
Have no support from friends of family
Fear cultural, community, or societal backlash that may hinder escape or support
Feel like they have nowhere to go or no ability to get away
Fear they will not be able to support themselves after they escape the abuser
Have children in common with their abuser and fear for their safety if the victim leaves
Have pets or other animals they don't want to leave
Be distrustful of local law enforcement, courts, or other systems if the abuse is revealed
Have had unsupportive experiences with friends, family, employers, law enforcement, courts, child protective services, etc. and believe they won't get help if they leave or fear retribution if they do (e.g. they fear losing custody of their children to the abuser)
These are among the many reasons victims of domestic violence either choose to stay in abusive relationships or feel they are unable to leave.

This month is domestic abuse awareness month.

WHAT IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE?
Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior
as part of a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. It includes
physical violence, sexual violence, threats, and emotional abuse. The frequency and severity of domestic violence
can vary dramatically.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IN ILLINOIS
• 37.7% of Illinois women and 25.7% of Illinois men experience intimate partner physical violence, intimate
partner sexual violence and/or intimate partner stalking in their lifetimes.
• In 2014, almost 65,800 intimate violence incidents were reported to Illinois law enforcement. Many others
went unreported.
• In between July 2013 and June 2014, there were 84 domestic violence-related deaths in Illinois, including children.
• 26.9% of domestic violence homicides were committed with fi****ms, significantly less than the nationwide
rate.
Illinois has very strong domestic violence-related fi****ms laws.
• As of December 31, 2015, Illinois had submitted 227 domestic violence misdemeanor and 293 protective
order records to the NICS Index.6

DID YOU KNOW?
• 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in the United States have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner.
• On a typical day, domestic violence hotlines receive approximately 21,000 calls, an average of close to 15 calls every minute.
• Intimate partner violence accounts for 15% of all violent crime.
• Abusers’ access to fi****ms increases the risk of intimate partner femicide at least five-fold. When fi****ms have been used in the most severe abuse incident, the risk increases 41-fold.
• 72% of all murder-su***des involve an intimate partner; 94% of the victims of these crimes are female.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE-RELATED FI****MS LAWS IN ILLINOIS
• Domestic violence and dating violence misdemeanants are prohibited from possessing fi****ms. Stalking is
a felony in Illinois.
• Respondents to permanent protective orders are prohibited from possessing fi****ms, including dating partners.
• Respondents to ex parte protective orders are prohibited from possessing fi****ms, including dating partners.
• Persons prohibited due to a domestic violence or dating violence misdemeanor or a protective order must surrender their fi****ms.
• Law enforcement responding to a domestic violence incident are required to confiscate any fi****ms they
have probable cause to believe were used in the incident.
• Background checks are required for all gun sales.

I have been a part of the DGR ride for 3 years now. First year my bike wasn't ready so I observed. And took part in the fan fair.
2nd year was cancelled due to snow. Booo
This year... Well... Let's just say there was no pre-party, or events, no awards ceremony.
And no after party 😞 just a long quiet ride which is always nice.
I'd like to say thank you to KMVanna and the vanna family for being the only people to support my part in the ride this year.
I hope next year we can all get together to enjoy the fan fair.

Its getting to be that time of year. The weather is getting cold. And our transient friends are beginning to head indoors. I just wanted to say

This is an on going project so we are always needed supplies.

Riding Dapper for a Cause
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride unites classic and vintage style motorcycle riders all over the world to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia, by Mark Hawwa. It was inspired by a photo of TV Show Mad Men’s Don Dr**er astride a classic bike and wearing his finest suit. Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way of connecting niche motorcycle enthusiasts and communities while raising funds to support the men in our lives.

3 out of 4 su***des are men

510,000 men die from su***de globally each year. That’s one every minute. This has to change.

The causes of su***de are complex. There’s no single reason why men take their own lives, but we do know that by improving overall mental health we can reduce the risk of su***de. We need to address untreated mental health conditions among men.

Too many men are toughing it out and struggling alone. There’s no shame in checking in your own mental wellbeing, and those close to around you. Our friends over at Movember have produced some handy guides, that might help take the sting out of broaching the subject

Our charity partner, Movember, is the largest men’s health organisation in the world. Since 2016, a total of USD $15.03 million has been invested in men’s health programs globally.

These funds have been channelled into cutting-edge prostate cancer research and treatment programs, as well as funding innovative mental health programs. These funds have already been put to use and are seeing positive results, with our plans for this year looking to make an even bigger impact to men's health.

With your help, The 2020 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride will build upon these crucial investments and fund even more ground-breaking projects.

This morning I went about my usual routine. Stop at the usual Gas station got my usual tea and snacks but once I got in to my car to leave I noticed there were a couple of 2 tear tables by the building behind the station a couple of were sleeping on and under them.
I grabbed my sandwiches and some bottles of water I walked over and introduced myself.
I know as Rockabilly Mafia Dolls were supposed to take pictures...

When I asked they seemed vary concerned.
They said they the police had harassed them out of the place where they usually sleep and didn't want any more trouble.

Chicago is a huge City and downtown we get so accustomed to seeing people sleeping on the bus benches, in door ways, and in alleyways. That we almost don't see them anymore. This is a less spoken about (what I deem epidemic) homelessness is beginning to reach in to the suberbs. And instead of helping these people they are being harassed.

You can help by donateing supplies for our personal care kits everything can be found at the dollar store.
You can help assemble and distribute these kits as well.

It's a vary small gesture to bring a lil comfort to a community in dire need.
