The Africa Cup of Nations 2024 in Ivory Coast has not only marked itself as the most thrilling event of the year but has also set the bar for AFCON competitions. The tournament has been a spectacle of entertainment, featuring breathtaking stadiums and a global congregation of passionate fans. What makes this AFCON stand out is its unpredictability, with top-ranked teams facing early eliminations, adding an extra layer of excitement.
Amidst the cheers and unpredictability, the anthem of AFCON 24 has undoubtedly been 'Coup Du Marteau,' a sensational track by Ivorian artist Tam Sir, featuring Team Paiya, Ste Milano, Renard Barakissa, Tazeboy, and PSK. The infectious beats and electrifying energy of the song have resonated with fans, turning it into the unofficial soundtrack of the tournament.
From the vibrant stadiums to the lively dance floors of social media, fans have embraced 'Coup Du Marteau' with jubilation. Countless videos of supporters dancing to the rhythm have flooded social platforms, cementing the song's status as the unforgettable anthem of AFCON 24. As the tournament concludes, 'Coup Du Marteau' will forever be etched in the memories of fans, encapsulating the spirit and euphoria of the 2024 AFCON competition.
The stage is now set for the AFCON 24 Quarter-Finals after some of the tournament's top-ranked teams faced unexpected eliminations in the Round of 16. Angola, Cape Verde, Cote D'Ivoire, DR Congo, Guinea, Mali, Nigeria, and South Africa emerged victorious in their respective Round of 16 matches, securing their spots in the highly anticipated quarter-finals.
These results have left fans astounded, as many had anticipated the top-seeded teams to breeze through the Round of 16 without a hitch. In a stunning turn of events, Egypt, Morocco, and the defending champions Senegal were ousted from the competition in the Round of 16.
As the tournament progresses, the unexpected outcomes have heightened the excitement and unpredictability of AFCON 24, promising thrilling clashes in the upcoming quarter-final matches.
The Tanzanian football squad faced a 3-0 defeat against Morocco, triggering a wave of mockery from Kenyan media and fans. This comes at a time when the Kenyan National Football team, Harambee Stars, is grappling with its own struggles, failing to secure a spot in AFCON 24. Despite this, Kenyan supporters are making their presence felt on social media, highlighting the irony of their team's performance being labeled an embarrassment to East Africa.
Interestingly, the Tanzanian National Football Team, Taifa Stars, stands as the sole representative of the East African region. The Tanzanian Football League is earning accolades as one of the best in Africa, in stark contrast to the perceived failure of the Kenyan League. This defeat prompts a shift in perspective, suggesting that Kenya could draw valuable lessons from Tanzania, considering its stature as the football giant in the East African Region.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued a directive for the "temporary grounding of specific Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft," the same model involved in the recent Alaska Airlines blowout incident.
As per the FAA's instruction, these aircraft are to be grounded until urgent inspections are completed, a process estimated to require "approximately four to eight hours per aircraft."
This directive affects a total of 171 Boeing 737-9 Max jets, according to the agency's official statement.
It's important to note that the Max series, particularly the Max 8 model, underwent a nearly two-year grounding following two tragic crashes associated with a different flaw.
Remarkably, among African airlines, Air Tanzania stands as the sole operator of the Boeing 737-9 Max model.
African migrants make up a growing portion of those arriving at the southern U.S. border. Figures show a remarkable rise, with 58,462 Africans apprehended in 2023 compared to 13,406 in 2022, driven by countries like Mauritania, Senegal, Angola, and Guinea. Nonprofits that work on the border confirm this trend, noting increased migration from Africa as European options dwindle due to tightening policies.
Experts cite diminishing opportunities and anti-immigrant sentiments as driving factors. The global movement of people, including those fleeing climate change and economic instability, adds to the complex scenario. This influx from Africa compounds the ongoing crisis at the Mexico-U.S. border, joining migrants from other continents in the journey northward.
Shocking and Disgraceful! American hunter Josh Bowmar and his wife Sarah Bowmar shamelessly boast about brutally killing a revered 100-year-old crocodile in Tanzania. This senseless act of destruction against our African wildlife must be condemned. Let's unite to protect our natural treasures from such cruelty.

One of the standout chart-toppers of the year is "Water" by Tyla, the talented South African artist. Propelled to global recognition, the track gained immense popularity through TikTok, solidifying its place as one of the defining hits of 2023.
However, Tyla's identification of herself as a "Colored" individual has sparked controversy and division among her fanbase in both the United States and South Africa. This term holds vastly different connotations in these regions, contributing to heated discussions among supporters and dissenters.
In the United States, the usage of the term "Colored" is widely considered derogatory, especially within the context of referring to Black individuals. The term originated during the Jim Crow era, a dark period of racial segregation, which has since shaped the perception of its usage.
Conversely, in South Africa, "Colored" holds an official status as a racial category for individuals of mixed heritage. Its history traces back to the Apartheid regime, where it was adopted and institutionalized, and today remains recognized by the majority, including the current government.
The differing historical and cultural backgrounds have led to ongoing debates, with some fans supporting its usage in the context of South Africa's racial classification system, while others oppose it due to its negative associations in the U.S.
The complexity of this term's history, originating from two distinct societal contexts, has ignited discussions highlighting the importance of understanding regional perspectives and historical backgrounds when discussing sensitive racial terminology.
Brazilian Samba: The Hearbeat of Carnival
In the vibrant tapestry of Brazilian culture, Samba stands as a rhythmic heartbeat that pulsates through the nation's veins, especially during the euphoric celebration of Carnival. Originating from the fusion of African rhythms, particularly from the West African Yoruba people, and blending with indigenous Brazilian music and European influences, Samba emerged in the early 20th century in Rio de Janeiro. It's roots in Afro-Brazilian culture are evident in the lively beats, syncopated rhythms, and spirited dance movements.
In a crucial session of the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, Liberia stood alongside Israel, the United States, and seven other nations in a contentious vote against an immediate ceasefire resolution. The emergency special session saw a significant majority of 153 nations rallying in favor of the ceasefire, while 10 countries, including Liberia, cast their votes against it. Additionally, 23 nations chose to abstain from the critical decision.
Notably, Liberia's stance against the resolution for an immediate ceasefire sets it apart as the sole African nation among those opposing the motion. The vote's outcome emphasizes the divergent perspectives among member states regarding the urgency and approach required to address the ongoing situation, highlighting the complexity and varied viewpoints within the international community on matters of global concern.
In the vibrant landscape of African music, Nigerian artists have undeniably claimed their dominance, particularly within the Afrobeats genre. This trend extends to YouTube subscription charts, where their influence is prominent. However, amidst this Nigerian reign, Tanzanian artists have emerged as a formidable force, preventing complete Nigerian dominance. Presenting the top 10 list of West African Male Artists, it's evident how Nigerian talents have overwhelmingly outshined competitors from neighboring West African countries. Kudos to the Nigerian music scene for its remarkable impact.
Tanzanian artists continue to dominate East African music on YouTube's subscription charts, holding the top four spots among male artists. Diamond Platnumz, in particular, boasts a subscriber count surpassing the combined totals of top-ranked artists hailing from other East African nations ranked in the top 10, showcasing Tanzania's vibrant music scene and their widespread appeal to audiences beyond their borders.
Aside from reigning atop the YouTube subscription charts in Africa, the intense affection between Zuchu and Diamond is unmistakable in the video. They exemplify the genuine definition of a power couple within the music and entertainment sphere. Wouldn't you agree?
In a spectacular display of musical prowess, Tanzanian artists have once again asserted their dominance in the YouTube subscription charts for East African female artists, securing an impressive six out of the top ten spots. Among these phenomenal talents, Zuchu shines brightly at the helm, mirroring the chart-topping prowess of her beau, the renowned Diamond Platnumz. Their collective impact continues to showcase Tanzania's vibrant music scene and its unwavering influence in the East African music industry.
Tanzanian sensation Diamond Platnumz maintains his YouTube reign, commanding an impressive subscriber base of 8.35 million, positioning him as the foremost subscribed artist in Sub-Saharan African countries. Notably, this staggering count places him nearly 4 million subscribers ahead of the Nigerian heavyweight, Burna Boy. Within the male top 10 list, the presence of Nigerian and Tanzanian artists remains strikingly prevalent.
Tyla's "Water" video has crossed the 50 million views milestone on YouTube in just a month, becoming the most-watched music video by an African artist in 2023.
Sean "Diddy" Combs was hit with a second lawsuit in as many weeks, accusing him of drugging and sexually assaulting a woman who claims she was also a victim of alleged "revenge p**n" by the music artist.
Can you name all the artists in this photo?
ZUCHU, representing Tanzania, holds the title of the most subscribed female artist in Sub-Saharan Africa on YouTube. However, the top 10 list is largely dominated by Nigerian artists, securing six positions. The Nigerian music scene has been globally influential with its chart-topping hits. Yet, with emerging talents like Tyla from South Africa climbing the charts, there's a high likelihood that this list will see shifts soon.
Congratulations TANZANIA
