Sometimes you do not realize that you have come full circle with your designs.

Gathering information on a new project for Chef Michael Lachowicz, I came across these photos.

Photo #1 was when the Chef and I first met to discuss design opportunities for Restaurant Michael. The curtains were used to close off the space near the front of the restaurant when hosting more private events.

Photo #2 Is the outcome from that initial conversation. Having lightened up the space by removing the center curtain panels, replacing the curtains on the outer windows with a more lux and transparent material. We also painted the space in a calming white and cream color combination.

Photo #3 Shows the transformation and re-branding of Restaurant Michael into two separate spaces Aboyer and Silencieux. Aboyer means "To Bark" and Silencieux means "Quiet" in French.

I find it interesting that where we once wanted to remove the center panels, to create an open space, has now been separated even more so to create two separate upscale dining experiences.

Several years ago I created the art installation you see to the left. This year I used the copper framing in a different manner as seen in the picture to the right. Always remember to re-cycle when you can. The bonus in doing this is that this year the copper piping has a beautiful patina on it that was not there when they were originally installed...and saved a little $$$ along the way!

While taking on the design of Aboyer and Silencieux, we tastefully upgraded the interiors of . Excited for the re-opening of this wonderful space.

About to add some color choices to our progress!!

As you all know I have been working on the launch of a restaurant called Aboyer which will house another restaurant inside called Silencieux. This is . The photo on the top is when I first met Chef Michael, the one on the bottom left is the work we did to give Restaurant Michael a facelift and the photo on the bottom right is what is happening after the closing of Restaurant Michael. Stayed tuned for further updates!!!

Some people think that because you have a small bathroom the color story needs to be bright. This bathroom, on the lower level of a Chicago home, has no natural light. That didn't stop us from adding a saturated color!! I believe the color makes the walls recede and the use of tile on the shower surround adds the much needed texture.

During our trip to Montmartre, in July of last year, we stayed at this wonderful hotel, Hotel Le Relais Montmartre. This ispired me to create a mood board for one of my clients.
