Welcome.
We are asking each of our contacts to visit our website at: www.homeandawaysales.biz. This is an ongoing fundraising site designed to allow the general public to purchase something and our Agency will receive a commission on the sale. It is important that we build a community of persons who are willing to buy something via our website once each month. We need your help to accomplish this. The funds will be used to provide additional housing for those homeless men/women that need housing, transportation to and from work, steel toe shoes, food and a job. Whatever help that you an provide will be greatly appreciated.
With a frustrated heart, I write this:
The University of Chicago Hospital’s social worker (1) ordered and paid for the client’s birth certificate and (2) had their psychiatrist to sign the Application for Disability Form which is accepted by the Secretary of State. We prepared the (3) Homeless Certification Form and got it notarized. We (4) obtained from the client’s probation officer, his (4) Discharge Cook County Jail Form as well as a (5) copy of his active and current State ID.
With all of this, Social Security denied him and told us that he would have to reapply from the beginning for social security benefits (a 4 to 6-month process). As a result of this devastating blow, we will have to return him to Cook County Jail because we cannot subsidize his residency fee and food costs.
There is no blame to lay. Had the Social Worker knew to call social security and obtain a verifiable date of benefits termination, we could have moved faster and perhaps saved him. We were given a date in March 2019, but the true date was February 9, 2019. This client had reached the 365-day mark on that day and his Social Security benefits were terminated on that date.
We have no grant funds to help this young man.
All in a day's work. One day, someone who has won the lottery will look favorably on the work that we do day in and day out and that person will make a sizeable contribution towards helping us to help the less fortunate.
Until that day comes, I remain

CEO, New Beginnings
Jobs Program is moving. We have seven men in our southside location and 5 in our Maywood location. Need a house in the city to put them into the same residence. Be on the lookout for a large house or a two flat with at least six bedrooms. We also have a four (4) man wait list.
Need a 5 or 6 bedroom house immediately to expand. Email me or call me - It's that important!
I am "ALIVE, WELL AND STILL KICKING" I miss all of you. I enjoyed the work, the people that worked for the agency and the challenges that we encountered along the way. There was never a dull day at New Beginnings. We accomplished much working together. I hope to hear from each of you. I would like to know what you are doing and I want you to make me remember who you are. That's important to me. I want to hold onto those memories. As we get older, memories are the first to go.
Today is Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Lots have happened since the last time I posted something. I had my van repossessed; lost my clients to another agency because the Owner took back her building and I lacked transportation and a driver to get around to handle some of the more important things.
With all of that in mind, I am a fighter - not - a quitter. My sister has extended a helping hand by allowing me to use her property for housing a new set of clients. This will allow me to start over and for this, I am eternally thankful.
However, in getting started, I will need to find an inexpensive passenger van to purchase (cash). I will need at least 30 sheets and 15 blankets for the clients.
I will start with those clients coming from psychiatric wards in hospitals. Have the Social Worker to contact me at 773-707-3120 to get them enrolled.
Clients must be ambulatory (able to walk on their on) and continent (able to control their bowels and urine).
Clients must be willing to pay $500 for a shared room and $100 in link for food. This location is in Maywood. There are ten (10) beds. No s*x offenders.
If anyone has a sheet or blanket that they donate, I am willing to accept it.
If you wish to make a cash donation, we are a 501(C)3 tax-exempt agency and any donation made is tax deductible.
Use the DONATE BUTTON to make cash donations.
