I've spent my career fighting for working families and
breaking barriers for women.
Thank you to CBS Chicago for having me on to talk about my endorsement of VP Kamala Harris, my role with the Democratic National Convention, and my excitement over this historic moment! Breaking news cut in, but I am so grateful for their time this morning.
"As women and as Democrats, we are so close to officially cracking the highest glass ceiling, and we also have a chance to compose a truly great American story.
Over the next few weeks, I will be working as hard as possible to ensure that the Hispanic community is organized and mobilized. I am certain that we will be integral in this election. I urge all Americans to join us in these efforts to elect the most qualified candidate, Kamala Harris, to be the next President of the United States of America."

Our hearts are heavy, as the City of Chicago mourns the tragic death of Officer Luis Huesca. During this time of sorrow, I hope you will join me in reflecting how we can all better support the law enforcement community. Together, we can ensure that our first responders have the resources, equipment, and partnerships that they deserve.
My prayers remain with Officer Huesca's mother, his family and friends, and the entire Chicago Police Department.
My heart is broken learning of the line of duty death of Officer Luis Huesca of the Chicago Police Department on his way home from work last night. My prayers are with his mother, his family, and all of the members of the law enforcement community.
God Bless the Chicago Police Department.

Dear Friends,
I want to thank you all for the love, support, and generosity over the past few months. The election did not turn out as we hoped, but there is still so much to accomplish until my term concludes, and I look forward to pushing many important initiatives forward that will better serve the citizens of Cook County.
I have been told we were outspent 20:1, but our team had their hearts in this race. Knocking on doors, making calls, and telling your friends to vote for an Independent Democrat takes courage, and I will be forever grateful to all of you.
I first started my career as a community organizer when I was just a teenager, working to bring resources to my neighbors and friends. I began my time in public service working in the mailroom of City Hall delivering mail to the elected officials. All these years later, I still am in disbelief that my name is listed on one of the doors. With hard work and dedication, so much is possible.
During my 40 year career in public service, I am honored to have broken barriers and glass ceilings for women and minorities during my time as a State Senator and as Clerk of the Circuit Court. However, I am most proud that the legislation and initiatives that I worked on helped the citizens of Cook County and Illinois. From gay marriage, to women’s reproductive health, to expungements, and fighting for victims of violence, all of this was accomplished because of the work of so many people. Thank you for your support over so many years.
Serving the public has been the honor of my lifetime. From my time as a single mother in the mailroom to my role as Clerk, I have loved every minute of working for you and your families. I will continue this work in my role as the Latino Caucus Chair of the Democratic National Committee over the next few months.
Although my daughter and my family are looking forward to spending more time with me, I know that my heart will always be in service to others, and that I will find opportunities to continue to give back to the communities that supported me for so many years
I wish Ms. Spyropoulos my best, and will work with whoever the voters choose in the General Election to ensure a seamless transition.
Your friend,
Iris Y. Martinez
I had such a wonderful time at Manny's Cafeteria & Delicatessen today catching up with old friends, members of the media, and meeting their customers. As always, everything was amazing! There is still time to vote...let's do this!!
Mary Ann Ahern reporting about the latest antics of the Cook County Dem leader cancelling on Manny's Cafeteria & Delicatessen because she will not be around people she disagrees with is truly concerning. Sadly, it is indicative of the current sentiment of the new machine. If you do not agree on everything, you are not included to the table. Please vote today for Independent Democrats. I hope you will consider voting for two women with decades of experience who will work together to bring peace back to our communities and help residents of Cook County get the Independent representation that they deserve. Please vote for Iris+Eileen!

Tonight, Mary Ann Ahern first reported that the Cook County Democratic Party leadership cancelled the traditional Election Day lunch at the legendary, family-run restaurant, Manny's Cafeteria & Delicatessen, due to political nonsense. This is so insulting and damaging, as they had planned for a large crowd.
I will be there at 1pm with many friends. Please join us!
