The CHA OIG has released its last quarterly report for 2023. Highlights of the 4th quarter include a former property manager ordered to pay CHA $83,103.59 in restitution for theft of tenant rents and more. The OIG ensures that violations are investigated and prosecuted, as they relate to CHA residents and employees, contractors, subcontractors, or any entity receiving funds from CHA. Our guests had a fun time at the Secret Santa Christmas Soiree at the Mansion as they received and gave away some lovely gifts! There was a soul train line, dancing, stepping, and a whole lot of meet and greets with beautiful Secret Santas! It was such a great night that many of the guests did not want to leave so we had to continue some of our conversations on the porch of the Mansion. The energy of the people that were able to attend and participate was great! Felt like family!! I am so thankful to God for the opportunity to meet new friends and see many of my long-time colleagues again as well. In 2019 Chicago's DPD along with 2 Westside aldermen sent letters to me via email stating that I could not buy public city owned land to build over 400 affordable units, 75 mixed use properties, Tech Center, Performing Arts and so much more in Garfield Park on Madison Street and the surrounding streets, because they were doing a study for the aldermen.

The late Commissioner Cox also made it very clear that DPD will not support me with TIFF funds either. I did'nt ask for funds but he wanted me to know this along with Chip Hastings and Jim Harbin.

After many requests submitted to DPD from us asking for a copy of the study, my emails continued to go unanswered and now 3 going on 4 years later, there's still No Study and we still can't buy public city owned land on Madison Street to revitalize Garfield Park!

Today, I'm grateful to set my eyes on this article. I was told by residents that this act against our Rebirth of Garfield Park Development that raised $100M in construction funds, was a violation of my rights. In this article, with the FBI investigation and HUD, it's been confirmed that Chicago's DPD has violated my civil rights to buy public city owned land to build affordable housing, to appease the aldermen, who hate me because I fight for development without displacing Black people from Garfield Park.

And, I opposed their proposed increase of rental units to 100%AMI, meaning a 3 bedroom would costs $3,000, and you will need to make an average of $75k in salary to live in Garfield Park. When I fought for the community, I became blacklisted by its aldermen, who personally told me that "I can't be community and political also". It was confusing, I thought they both worked together.

Now, the real fight begins, so this will not keep happening to Black and Brown developers and Women who want to bring economic development to their communities!

Although I'm always in full support of bringing business and economic development to Garfield Park Neighborhood, I am also 100% in support of what our community wants and need. Today, the CommUnity continued to stand together in City Hall in Opposition of placing a Cannabis Dispensary at Wallace Catfish Corner, and I'm happy to say the community's voice was heard. The applicant withdrew their application. There will be NO Dispensary on Madison and California in Garfield Park!

Friends, there's a homeless young African American lady with her two young kids sitting here in a restaurant where I am. They need shelter. She's from another state. President Obama and Michelle not only looked fabulous, but they are forever inspiring. We need them to keep talking and writing books to empower and bring hope, reminding us that Yes We Can achieve our dreams❤️

For a while now, I've felt my fire dimming for my activism work because of so many bias challenges I've had to endure from some individuals who have been elected to serve their communities who talk Democracy but run their wards like dictators. As was stated at the forum, if you're truly about Democracy, you are willing to work with everyone including those that do not always agree with you. If all those around you, agree with everything you do, they are not true friends or allies. A true friend/ally will tell you the truth even if you don't want to hear it.

I hope and pray for the sake of building up our communities, saving and empowering our children that those who have been handed the responsibility of building up their wards, districts, cities, will put aside their bias ways of thinking and doing, put down their self-vengeance ways and abuse of power that some use to hurt those that don't agree with some of their decisions, and choose to pick up and utilize Democracy in the true sense of the word, with everyone and every organization.

I am happy and honored that I accepted the invite to this amazing life changing event. It was exactly what I needed to get fired-up again to keep fighting for equitable distribution of economic development and inclusion in our disenfranchised communities.

All of the speakers provided key nuggets to pivot Democracy in our lives, businesses and communities that can positively impact our world!
