The fall season is here! Preseason training begins next week (8/1) on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00-10:00p at Columbus Park (500 S Central).

Heading into the D1 Semifinal, we had an ongoing eligibility appeal with a player in our squad. That appeal was upheld but deemed not to apply retroactively. Based on the facts surrounding the case, we filed a further grievance appeal and were confident that it would be ruled in our favor.

However, the grievance panel denied our appeal and therefore the Chicago Griffins will not be competing in the D1 National Championship 2023.

Although we are extremely disappointed in the panel’s ruling, we respect the final decision and wish both teams the best of luck tomorrow.

The Chicago Griffins RFC appealed the finding that one of their players was ineligible in yesterday’s Semifinal match.

THAT APPEAL WAS SUCCESSFUL.

While the process of resolving the situation is ongoing, we are confident that our organization has done everything right and we will be taking the field at 3:00p CST in the Division 1 Final on Sunday.

After a victory over a tough Pittsburgh Forge team the Chicago Griffins RFC punch their ticket 🎟 into Midwest D1 championship playoff match. “Our defense has improved,” said Griffins Head Coach Andrew Suniula. “We’ve been working on that.” The undefeated Griffins(9-0) still face the Chicago Lions in the final match of the regular Premiership League season this Saturday Nov. 5‼️

🚨Griffins Kickoff Fall Season🚨

After winning the Midwest last year under Darren Morris, who has returned to his home in Dallas following that success, the Griffins are eager to embark on another strong campaign. New Head Coach Andrew Suniula was part of the coaching staff last year and now takes over on the sidelines.

The Chicago Griffins will host the Cleveland Crusaders Saturday, Aug 27, for the first time in Midwest Division 1 Premiership play.

RECAP:

The 2022 Bud Skuba Memorial Golf Tournament was a great success, attracting 70 players who drove, chipped and putted in cool temperatures and cloudy skies.

Many thanks to Golf Commissioners Todd Dumstorf and Kurt Wiebe for putting together the popular social event and club fundraiser. Todd said the next golf outing will be even better. “It will be the Griffins fiftieth anniversary year,” Todd said. “It’ll be a special event you won’t want to miss.”

Special guests this year included Old Boys Ira Berger, Frank Moy, and Mike Carroll. Ira was in town to visit family as well as his Griffin family. He lives near Dallas, Texas. Mike lives on the East Coast and will be relocating to Brooklyn soon. He has vowed to be at the next Griffin Gala.

Ira wound up with a 78 for his group, which included Old Boy Tom “Colonel” Sanders. A good score for a guy who started with the Griffins in the 1970s. For Frank, who lives in Skokie, it was a new experience. “This is my first time playing the Griffin outing,” Frank confessed. We trust it will not be the last.

We greeted Old Boys Mike “Big Mac” McCormick, Morgan Nichols, “Big Bob” Kuras, Chris “Noles” Nolan and son Cooper, Carl Dittmer, Charlie Byrne, and many others.
