Today, DCFS awarded college scholarships to 352 incredible young people (the most ever!!) who have been in DCFS care.

As Governor Pritzker noted in his remarks, these kids have overcome and accomplished so much already — and they are only getting started. We know you will make us proud in college and beyond!

Commissioner Bridget Gainer is hosting a Property Tax Appeals Workshop with the Assessor's Office on Monday, July 22, from 6-8pm at Harry S. Truman College, in the theater in Building 2.

The Assessor will give a presentation on appeals and property taxes in general and open up for Q&A. Staff from the Assessor's Office will also be available to help with appeals or answer any individual questions on a one-on-one basis.

Today the Business Improvement District legislation I've worked on for 3 years was signed into law by the governor. BIDs will enable Chambers of Commerce and business organizations like the The Magnificent Mile to direct resources into business corridors to invest in safety, spur growth and fill empty retail spaces.
