What is that siren sound? 🔊🤔 The Hi-Lo siren alternates between a fixed high and low frequency – different from a normal emergency siren. It means you MUST EVACUATE immediately or risk great bodily harm or death. A number of situations could trigger an evacuation, but pay extra attention during our upcoming fire season. If patrol cars come through your neighborhood with this siren, it’s time to go. 🏃Stay tuned to our platforms for urgent messages and consider registering for emergency alerts at alertsandiego.org 📳
For his 6th birthday, K9 Cooper specifically requested chicken tenders & mashed potatoes… so we had to oblige! 🤪 He certainly deserves it… as our drug detection expert, Cooper helps us combat drug crime and keep our streets safe. Just last month, he uncovered a kilo of cocaine! 🫢 So here’s to many more years of service, treats, and tail wags for this good boy. Happy Birthday, Cooper! 🐶🎈🎉🍗
No, we’re not Kansas — our dispatchers went all out for National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (2nd Week of every April). ✨ They pick a theme every year and this year’s was Wizard of Oz. While these heroes have a little fun, there’s no monkeying around when it comes to your emergency calls for help. Last year alone, our dispatchers handled over 318,000 calls! 👀 We’re thankful for them every single day and we salute them during this special week!
Thanks to @cvff @chulavistafirefighters and @chulavistafd for letting us join in the fun today at the 14th Annual Chula Vista Firefighters Easter Egg Hunt! 🐣🌷 We loved meeting everybunny and had a blast kicking off the Spring season with our amazing community.
Last but not least… on the final day of #blackhistorymonth we’d like to highlight Dispatcher Teri! 🤗 Tune in to learn why she became a dispatcher and why this month is special to her.
K9 Bob is 7 years old today! 🎂 Despite being the most senior good boy on the team, Bob is ALWAYS excited to go to work with his human partner. In celebration of his 7 years around the sun, Bob will indulge in his favorite cheat meal (McDonald’s hamburgers, of course), get lots of belly rubs, and play some rounds of fetch. Happy Birthday, Bob! 🤗 Thankful for you and your commitment to keeping this community safe!
On 12-2-23 at around 6:45 pm, these guys broke into a home in the 1800 block of Camino Mojave. 😓 They ran off when the alarm sounded. 🚨 Know these thieves? Call Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477 or submit info anonymously via P3 Tips (app or online).
OFFICERS CAUGHT BREAKING AND ENTERING! This week Chief Kennedy and Co. took part in Little Tommy’s “Breaking & Entering Christmas 2023,” delivering toys and gifts to some special teens in @thinkchulavista . To add a CVPD and CV Police Foundation spin on it, parents were provided Acts of Kindness gift cards and enough food to prepare a truly special holiday meal. Thanks @tommysablan for letting us join in the gift giving fun this season. We love these kinds of partnerships!
This past October, CVPD officers responded to a car fire after hearing the 911 calls in real time on Live911. The drone officer (DFR) guided them to the location and they ended up rescuing a man seconds before the car was fully engulfed in flames. See the full video at https://youtu.be/3LT0nCt4WNo
Happy Veterans Day to all of those who have bravely served our country. 🇺🇸 Your commitment & sacrifice will never be forgotten. In honor of this day, we asked vets at CVPD how their military experience helps them as a police officer. Check out what they had to say 👆🏼
We were proud to honor those who served in the Armed Forces as we took part in the annual Veterans Day Parade at Veterans Elementary. 🇺🇸 Have a safe weekend, everyone! 💙 And although Veterans Day is a week away… shout out to all you vets!
In honor of the end of National Hispanic Heritage Month, we thought it would be fun to show you the video we collected of our staff sharing what their heritage means to them. We had no shortage of peeps to interview, as over 40% of our sworn and civilian staff identify as Hispanic and/or Latino!
Our thoughts are with the Manhattan Beach Police Department and the loved ones of Officer Chad Swanson, who was killed on duty in a traffic collision while on his police motorcycle yesterday morning. Officer Swanson was 35 years old and was with the department for 13 years. He leaves behind a wife and three young children. He was a hero, not only at work but in his personal life. He attended the 2017 Harvest Country Music Festival in Las Vegas and was credited with saving lives when the shooting occurred. He survived a gunshot wound to his arm that day. We mourn with Manhattan Beach Police Department and all who feel this tragic loss. Rest in peace, Officer Swanson.
Please join us TOMORROW EVENING (Wednesday, October 4) from 5:30 - 7 pm for our next Coffee With A Cop at Starbucks (2295 Otay Lakes Rd). ☕️ The Chief, her Command Staff, and officers would love to meet you. 👋 We’ll see you there!
