CMC is ringing the NYSE Closing Bell this Thursday, August 17, and you can watch live! In addition to the bell ringing, NYSE TV will be profiling the College, and this exciting event, in an extended format. 1998 was a year to remember: Destiny’s Child released their debut album and CMCers swayed to All My Life” by K-Ci & JoJo. No one missed an episode of ER or Friends and Armageddon made everyone shed a tear or two.

During their senior year, the Class of 1998 welcomed Governor Michael Dukakis, Chief Joseph Chasing Horse, and the Miami Gospel Choir to the Athenaeum. Students enjoyed the Under the Lights production of “Lover and Other Strangers," and remembered Donald McKenna in a special Celebration of Life service.

As we approach Alumni Weekend 2023, we’re featuring our reunioning classes. It’s time to highlight the Class of 1978, which will celebrate their 45th reunion this June!

CMCers in 1978 saw Andy Gibb, the Bee Gees, and Debby Boone at the top of the charts; the top movie of the year was Grease; and CMC celebrated the commencement of the first coeducational cohort. Class of ’78, come back to Claremont and celebrate the place and friends that defined this chapter of your life.

Our next featured class in our countdown to Alumni Weekend 2023 is the Class of 2003! Burned CDs included Evanescence, the Black Eyed Peas, and Matchbox Twenty. After class, students raced to see The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King or decided on a night in to watch The OC. Everyone counted the days to the Madrigal Feast and Monte Carlo. The San Diego Chapter gathered last weekend for a day of scrums, tackles, and trys as the San Diego Legion defeated the Houston SaberCats at the impressive Snapdragon Stadium. Thanks to all who joined to enjoy the game, conversations, connections, and of course, the incredible views!

We’re taking the next couple of weeks to celebrate our reunioning classes ending in 3s and 8s. This week we’re featuring the amazing Class of 1973 who are set to mark their Golden Medallion 50th Reunion in June! Harvey Goldhammer ’73 notes, “Being from a small college allowed us to become friends with most of the people in our class. After graduation, we did not see each other much, except for reunions. Some of these friends we have not seen in five years, ten, or twenty years! It will fun to see our friends and classmates and catch up with each other after all this time.”
