ICYMI my coverage on Austrian 🇦🇹 wine varietals 🍇 and their influence in Michigan’s Leelanau Peninsula ✋🏼

One of our staple red varieties may be Blaufränkisch but did you know that it is just one of the few Austrian varieties grown on the Leelanau Peninsula? Both Michigan and Austria are cool climate wine growing regions which has growing conditions that allow the variety to thrive.

Learn more about how Austrian varieties are making their presence known on the Leelanau Peninsula in Bill Newman’s latest article for the Napa Valley Wine Academy. https://www.auroracellars.com/premier-california-wine-academy-highlights-austrian-varieties-grown-on-leelanau-peninsula/

If you ever have a chance to visit Tuscany make Castello di Albola a priority! 🍷 👏🏼

As far as the eye can see, the hills of Chianti undulate like an ocean of green forests and vineyards. Sitting among its highest hills is the sustainable estate of Castello di Albola. Spanning 900 hectares, with 125 devoted to viticulture, this historic estate is a devoted to protecting both the natural and cultural heritage of Radda in Chianti.

The view is expansive, showcasing the rich variety of our land. Mighty oak and cypress trees punctuate the landscape like proud sentinels overlooking the vineyards and olive groves, creating a patchwork across the slopes. The diverse aspects, soils and elevations that these hills create offers a unique and varied terroir, allowing us to produce wines that capture the essence of Chianti Classico.

It’s a 🌧️ in as yet another atmospheric river slides through 🌬️ A rainy night calls for warm fire 🔥 and toasty .

This 2014 Cyrus style red blend from Alexander Valley Vineyards fits the bill. 2014 was the second “drought vintage” in and although we can say nearly every vintage since 2012 has had drought impacts. The fruit 🍇 is intense and the sound given the many vintages Kevin Hall has under his belt.

62% named for Cyrus Alexander the original architect of the . My review: dark ruby color with medium [+] intensity aromas of black fruits (black currant, dark plum, blackberry) red fruits (bing cherry) and black tea leaf 🍁 with developing characteristics. Dry and medium acidity on the palate, medium [+] intensity flavors of same with additional flavors of spice (allspice, red cyan pepper, black pepper, clove), leather strap, brush sage … medium [+] tannins, high yet respectable alcohol (14.3 ABV) and a long pleasing finish. Cork did its job capturing some tartaric crystals and sediment upon opening. Decanted 30 minutes before serving. Exceptional wine. Can drink now has potential for further aging.

Cheers 🍷 to rainy 🌧️ days

Another family-owned, small production winery jumps in! Congratulations Domaine Chardonnay Vineyard & Private Estate!

FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS 💖

Proud to share to all our friends and neighbors have officially launched their label Domaine Chardonnay Vineyard & Private Estate!

has long been a successful vineyard, one of the oldest in the valley, and was purchased from the original owners by Laura Stearn with Michael Wieters in 2016. They had a dream of designing and building their own custom home in the middle of a vineyard, living the good life, being closer to nature, farming their own land, making wine and sharing the experience with others.

In celebration 🎉 of their accomplishment I am offering with Vinebase the opportunity to try Mike and Laura’s wines with a $10 promo .
