Sometimes I stop and think of how lucky and blessed I am as a photographer, and what an honor it is to have been a small part of my families’ beautiful stories for almost thirteen years now. Today, my friend and longtime client is celebrating her birthday. From fun headshots for , to bakery brochures and business websites, from product photos (so delicious) to her family photos, from her daughters adoption to a beautiful wedding... Janet Rinaldi, I think we’ve done it all, my dear friend. It is a delight to be able to document so much of the goodness that is happening in your life. Happy Birthday to you!! Launching two beautiful families’ galleries today, editing holiday cards, packaging print orders, and listening to Christmas carols all day. I feel so blessed that I get to work with such wonderful, kind families and amazing local businesses who come to me back year after year, despite all the November-to-December craziness! ✨ Sending high fives and large coffee refills to my photographer friends who are pulling late nights and/or super early mornings with me this time of year. We are almost in the home stretch!

We’ve lived near the beach for almost 18 years now, and I never get tired of it. It remains one of my very favorite places to shoot. It’s not just the gorgeous Gulf water or the soft white sand. It’s the sea grapes and grasses, the winding paths and the palms. The tiny wildflowers growing on the dunes. Contrasting textures made more noticeable in the light, if you’re watching closely. And when shooting for black and white, texture and light are *everything*. Besides the (obvious) darling face in the photograph, that is. This sweet boy? He was an absolute showstopper.

How I feel about sitting in the car dealership today because of a nail in my tire. Although my whining isn’t nearly as adorable as baby Katie’s.

Hello, Monday! 🖤

I’ve been pretty terrible at sharing my photographic work lately. And I really have a ton of images that move my heart, that I want to share. So, let’s start with these sweet giggly girls! They’re some of my favorites ever. I’ve been photographing them since the oldest was in preschool and the second was under a year, and the next two babies were still but a dream... I think our first session together was in 2008! It’s hard for me to believe sometimes that I’ve been documenting growing families, and giggles and love, for well over a decade now. 💖

My kids went back to school on Monday and I feel like it’s only taken us two days to get to Friday. Anyone else feel like it’s been a short week? Moms of school kids, I know you feel me here: “Wait, you’re going to be home with me all weekend again... already? My alone time was just getting started!!” 😁

I pulled this photo from the archives for a sweet client today, among lots of images from ages ago, and I just felt so completely grateful and overwhelmed that somehow, the same families I photographed way back in 2010, when this photo was taken, are still coming to me for their family’s portraits in 2018. In fact, I’ve seen this pretty little girl and her family every single year except one, from 2009 to now. That’s some track record. And an honor that I don’t take lightly. I’m so very thankful for the families who trust me to preserve their memories on film, year after year after year. ❤️

In between visits with family and friends and heading down the street for ice cream cones and rolling out beach blankets on the sand and waiting out the afternoon rainstorms snuggled together on the couch... I’ve been behind the scenes planning for Fall..... sketching out my annual Holiday Mini Sessions, filling up my shooting schedule for October and November, thinking about Christmas card designs. And also stressing about how I’m going to manage our crazy schedules when school starts back in two weeks. 😬
Anyone else feel like they’ve just blinked and summer is almost over??

My clients throw the prettiest parties. Today’s session was a birthday party sleepover for a sweet little girl. And now I want a pretty lace teepee draped in twinkling lights and evergreen garlands, all for myself. 🌿💐✨
