If there is one thing that has disappointed me about Geauga County, it is how reactive the leadership is instead of proactive. Earlier in the year I had the opportunity during a small conference to talk with the Auditor of Lorain County for about 15 minutes and gained more insight into how the reevaluations and reappraisals work and it has nothing to do with market conditions. It has everything to do with hitting a revenue number and they must adjust those numbers until the State of Ohio agrees. How they get to that number is up to the Geauga County. This is why one person could have an evaluation of $300,000 on their home and their next door neighbor could have an evaluation of $50,000 more or less.

Walder and Hitchcock could see this coming a mile away with how fast the real estate market took off in 2020 and yet there was no panic until recently. Who will get hurt the most? Those on fixed incomes of course.
