Our "Cooking with Chef Wells" cooking classes are amazing! The current season ends in April. We are now putting together classes for the new season that will begin in May. Please give us an idea of a class theme or topic you would like to learn about. We will try to make it into a class!

The question was innocent enough, but it hit really hard: "When are you going to open a restaurant like the other chefs in the city?"

Skye LaRae's Culinary Services is a private chef company I started in 2004. I started it to fill a need: I knew couples that rarely had time to spend with each other. Family commitments and the busyness of life made romance an afterthought.

The six course, Intimate Dinner for Two, has been successful, in part, because it brought romance back. I have had the pleasure of serving over 3000 couples in 19 years. It is more than food, it is a ministry.

From there, Skye LaRae's has grown into the top private chef company in the area. From dinner parties to hors d'oeuvres events to cooking classes and catered events, our business has grown exponentially, even through a recession and a global pandemic.

The key to our growth has been our service and relationships. We have built lasting relationships with so many people and organizations in the area. These people trust us for their personal and corporate events.

So, THIS is why I have no desire to open a restaurant. I LOVE what we do. This niche that we've built has allowed me to go places and see things I would have never dreamed!

Holiday hors-doeuvres event in Avon...

Happy Thanksgiving!

This is, by far, my favorite holiday! A holiday filled with food, family and fellowship (and football!).

It amazes me, however, how social media uses this festive time to shame people based on the way they cook.

Cook the way YOU cook. Cook based on YOUR family's traditions. Don't let anyone make you feel bad about the way you prepare your Thanksgiving meal.

If you make mac and cheese with imported cheeses from France or with Velveeta or with processed American cheese, do you!

If you like your turkey fried, roasted or as deli meat on a sandwich, it's OK!

If you prefer pumpkin pie or sweet potato pie, enjoy!

Please don't stress over social media's take on the "perfect meal". Cook based on your traditions, likes and most of all, what makes you happy!
