The Beginning :-)

Tonight, my Mom (Nana) and I had our first official business meeting at Olive Garden. :-) My Mom has been baking cookies for years and she really enjoys making fun designs for parties, events and holidays. I’ve been teasing her for years that they are good enough to sell, but she has always just done it for fun.

This Mother’s Day, 2018, I surprised her by launching “Nana’s Custom Cookies” and spreading the word on Facebook. People began writing reviews for her, liking, sharing...and ORDERING cookies! :-)

She is SO excited! Most people would think she is already busy enough, and that this is just more for her to do. But many, many times, she has randomly dropped off cookies for me or for my daycare, just because. So I know that she enjoys baking and decorating and that she would LOVE to have a job with it.

She has already shown me around her kitchen and bedroom, where she has begun buying shelves, new cookie cutters and gadgets, lots of little organizing drawers for all her supplies, and more! My favorite thing is the binder she put together. You know when you go to a public bakery and you can flip through a catalog of design choices to choose from? She put together an entire binder- tab divided by holiday/event. She has a thousand images for various holidays and events, and little notes to herself how she changes the frosting or fondant or random notes on how to improve the design. :-)

I am SO excited to hear all HER ideas and see how she has taken this little page and is turning it in to so much more. It’s exactly as I had hoped she would do!

The gift was just to get her started and to show her all the family and friends who support her. But now, it’s all hers and I am so proud to see what she has accomplished in just one week- and on top of having a regular full time job, a husband, 2 kids, 3 grandkids, lots of volunteer work, church and personal fitness. She is a true role model for me.
