Sending lots of love for a very special Christmas. We hope you’ve had a wonderful day. Last night I flew back from celebrating the Solstice and an early Christmas with my family in England. Dennis Kucinich and I spent today with our family in Parma, OH. It’s been over 60 degrees and doesn’t feel very Christmassy so posting a snowy photo from 2018. ❤️🎄
On this Eve of Christmas, we prepare to celebrate the birth of the ‘Prince of Peace,’ born in a stable in Bethlehem (Palestine), because there was no room at the inn.
The story of Jesus parallels the experience of the majority of refugees who are displaced tonight, without adequate food or shelter.
Approximately 180 women will give birth in today, many of whom are now displaced and living in shelters.
UNRWA midwives provide post-natal & high-risk pregnancy care for women at their 9 operational health centers. Post-natal care continues through in shelters in Palestine, but conditions are not at all suitable for newborns. They need your help.
There are an estimated 50,000 pregnant mothers in Gaza.
50% of the population of Palestine are children.
The story of Jesus, his birth and early years can be understood in terms of a Palestinian refugee or internally displaced person (IDP) of today. Jesus and his family were forced to flee Herod’s persecution. Mary and Joseph fled with Jesus to Egypt to escape genocide inflicted on the little boys of Bethlehem by a zealous ruler.
Since October, 8,000 children and 6,200 women have died so far in American backed, Israeli atrocities which have slaughtered 20,000 people and are now attempting to starve the rest of the population.
Every one of these mothers and children deserve the chance to live, and to live in peace.
As we plan to celebrate a joyful holiday season with our chosen communities, please consider sharing your heart and resources with those in need, be they in your own town or in places far across the sea.
Post-natal care continues through in shelters in Palestine, but conditions are not at all suitable for newborns. They need your help.
Please consider supporting the mothers and children of Palestine today with a donation to UNRWA USA linked in this post.
I have personally visited health and education facilities in Gaza, run by UNWRA, and embraced the children who now are so horrifically under threat. There is little we can practically do today with our government so horrendously blocking a UN sanctioned ceasefire, but we can help to provide humanitarian assistance.
Please give what you can to help provide essential humanitarian aid and share this post 🙏💖🕊️

“So the Shortest Day came and the year died
And everywhere down the centuries of the snow‐white world
Came people singing, dancing,
To drive the dark away.
They lighted candles in the winter trees;
They hung their homes with evergreen;
They burned beseeching fires all night long
To keep the year alive.
And when the new year's sunshine blazed awake
They shouted, reveling.
Through all the frosty ages you can hear them
Echoing behind us ‐ listen!
All the long echoes, sing the same delight,
This Shortest Day,
As promise wakens in the sleeping land:
They carol, feast, give thanks,
And dearly love their friends,
And hope for peace.
And so do we, here, now,
This year and every year.
Welcome, Yule!”
~ Susan Cooper, ‘The Shortest Day’
On this the Winter Solstice, the shortest day and the longest night of the year, the Sun is reborn and begins its long climb towards its height and the longest day, at Summer Solstice.
According to ancient beliefs, in the darkest of caves and stables the universal Goddess gives birth to her child, the Sun King, ‘the light of the world'.
In Celtic traditions this is the newborn Sun, who is also the Oak King and rival to the Holly King. In Greek myth the Sun god Apollo was also born hidden from the light beneath a curling wave.
What ever your tradition, may you find peace in the quiet of Winter’s night, and hope in the new dawning of the birth of new sun. Another year turns, a new one has begun. ☀️

“…The US could stop the war today if the Biden Administration wanted to do so. But it does not. The question is, why not? These are not the actions of a friend, because friends tell friends what they need to hear, not what they want to hear…
This war is not making Israelis safe or Jewish people safe anywhere in the world. It is widely viewed as being genocidal. The nightmare paradox is that through wiping out Palestinians in order to eliminate Hamas, Israel’s security threats will increase, endangering the survival of Israel itself.” Dennis Kucinich
Can Israel Survive if There is No Ceasefire? The US could stop the war today if the Biden Administration wanted to. But it does not. The question is, why not? -- Dennis Kucinich, The Kucinich Report
I lived for a year and a half in a rural village in Tanzania without electricity, running water, cell phone connectivity, even a bore hole for water. And I loved it. I’d likely still be living there if I hadn’t had the deep seated mission in my soul to do what I could to help to transform policies at a political level from America.
I feel nostalgia for the life I lived in East Africa and loved this video I watched this morning in my insta-feed.
Many of you have asked about our engagement on the topic of Gaza. Please subscribe (free) to on Substack, where Dennis Kucinich and I write longer posts on a variety of topics.
The Nothingness of a War Consciousness The leaders of the world must assert common humanity and create a new path, a new map which is fair to all, and establish a new, peaceful coexistence which recognizes the inner equality of all
Thank you all for your encouragement! I’m so done with the pretense of politics. I have to say, it’s been a tough decade since the redistricting, watching our government devolve. As if further devolution and breakdown were possible... and not having such a voice to try to sway the tides.
I’m longing for . So I’m going to share it here. I will post more serious things of course, but let’s be human! 😈 or something similar. I deeply appreciate the beautiful sentiments that have been shared on my threads over the last few days. Thank you. We have to find a way. This breakdown is not our fate - the world doesn’t end like this!
So…. I just told Dennis Kucinich that I’ve come out of hiding and started to engage on social media but this time showing my true nature (meaning I love nature). He then argued that I have to share these - taken on a walk with the dogs the other day. I said “no make up, wrinkles, no!” He overruled. Sorry - but this is me. Hello from your Ginger Viking (Peaceful-ish) Warrior 👑 ! 💪☺️✌️
My mum always taught me, if everyone looked after their little patch then the world would be wonderful. We have the chance to enliven and regenerate our environment, our ecosystems and our communities (the world) one lawn and one road verge at a time.
Let’s open our eyes and see beauty in living landscapes which grow in vibrancy and support life through forage and diversity, healing plants and habitat, rather than sterile, mown, w**d whacked, glyphosate sprayed, leaf blown dead yards. Wild is beautiful. Wild is life! 🦋🌸🐝 Let’s learn to live in peace with our environment 🌱🕊️
🌱💖🕊️ My mother always taught me to turn a negative thought into a positive action. Let’s be as active for everything positive we want to see in the world, and help to bring a new reality into being. 🌱💖🕊️
This is a beautiful Mother hickory nut tree. She’s magnificent! The other day I noticed that she’d grown a whole circle of babies all around her. A living wood henge. A natural sacred grove. Half of the circle was smothered with invasive bushes so I spent several hours with my very indelicate monster brush mower clearing the circle and removing fallen trees and branches. I can’t wait to plant the circle with wild native woodland flower seeds in the spring. 🍂🌳🍂
- Joyfully standing in the meadows of
- Reclaiming my woodlands from multiflora rose, suffocating vines and jurassic mugwort. Every day I clear more paths, I see more signs of happy foraging wildlife.
In my happy place.
