We would like to thank Javon Bates TheLegacy, and his production team, as well as the talented actors from his film "Common Creed: Traffiking," for visiting Ohio Media School Cleveland Campus.

Our students had a fantastic opportunity to interview the main characters and work alongside the film crew. This hands-on experience not only inspires but also provides valuable networking opportunities with this local production company.

The film is complete and in final edits. Save the date for the book signing event scheduled at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on October 10th from 5-9pm.

Meet Mickey Tate, the Owner/Operator of Nubian Health and a recent graduate of Ohio Media School in Columbus. As a Veteran, Mickey chose to enroll because the curriculum aligned with his business goals and talents.

Mickey is not just a motivational speaker, trainer, city employee, and podcaster – he is a multifaceted individual utilizing his audio, video, and digital skills to promote himself, his business, community, and workplace. He even hosts the podcast "Get Motivated" that can be found on a variety of podcast networks.

In addition to his diverse skill set, Mickey is also a world record-breaking powerlifter in the drug-free raw competition category for ages 65-69. Now holding the world record title, he shares his journey as a content creator on digital media platforms.

Mickey's ultimate career goal is to inspire success by being a beacon of positivity for the youth and aspiring strength trainer at Ohio State University. His advice is simple: never give up, work hard for what you want, and keep looking up.

Born and raised in Columbus OH with a large family of 8 siblings himself, and father to 10, Mickey found solace in bodybuilding and clean living after facing personal struggles. Following a life-changing experience that led him down the wrong path, he ultimately chose rehabilitation and redemption with clemency from the governor.

In 1998, Mickey founded Nubian Health Club as a place to inspire others to prioritize their physical and mental well-being.

Ohio Media School would like to thank Russell Johnson for providing another excellent real-time internship opportunity to film and interview athletes and coaches being inducted into the 2024 American Basketball Hall of Fame in Rochester, Michigan.

The value of this experience is immeasurable and the mentorship outstanding as our media interns hone their skills both in front and behind the camera and learn from a pro to be a pro.

Intern Lead Aaron Silvers shared his experience -

“Despite some setbacks, including our lead interviewer/producer sidelined due to sickness, our dedicated media team rallied to make everything happen.

“A huge thanks to alum of the Sports Broadcasting Program, Ben Parsons, and Radio & TV Production Program student Charles Suggs for their crucial roles on the Red-Carpet at this Hall of Fame Induction.

“Before heading out, I purchased a basketball for autographs and checked that all equipment was working well, for the next day.

“While there were some technical challenges and last-minute battery issues, the interviews with legendary players and coaches went smoothly and without a hitch. The event was a great success, and provided us the real-time opportunity to capture memorable moments of recognition and achievement.

“Each new experience provides our intern team the opportunity to grow in our craft and feel more confident in our skills, while adjusting to the fast pace and pressure of live entertainment.

“I was proud to represent Ohio Media School and to head home with the signed basketball as a symbol of basketball legends' achievements as well as our own.

“I will present the autographed basketball to Ohio Media School to represent the doors opened and networks built through the meaningful internship experiences presented to me.

“I am proud to share this piece of history to inspire other students to also reach for their professional dreams.”

Meet Marcus Croft, a 2023 graduate of Ohio Media School Columbus campus. Marcus enrolled to enhance his media knowledge and technical skills to market and grow his businesses, Marcus Darlings International Kitchen and Marked Up Entertainment. Utilizing his training in audio and video production, he is creating engaging social media content to achieve his business objectives.

With a focus on business growth and development, Marcus advises current students to stay focused, complete projects, and always strive for excellence.

Also known as Mark Essence (recording artist/producer/dj) and Chef Marcus Darling, Marcus is a passionate culinary artist who refined his technical skills at Ohio Media School to continue to build his culinary business. His unique blend of creativity shines through in dishes that not only delight the palate but also the camera lens.
