It’s Friday…and we almost forgot to share our ! 😬Today we’re highlighting the absolutely beautiful scenery and monuments at the Lake View Cemetery in Cleveland Heights. Just 15 minutes outside of Downtown Cleveland, this breathtaking burial ground is home to some of Cleveland’s most famous individuals. It’s also been used for different scenes in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), directed by Cleveland's own Russo Brothers.

However, if you have a keen eye for Cleveland cinema - you would recognize that the old Croatian Tavern in Goodrich-Kirtland Park is the tavern in the opening sequence of Judas and the Black Messiah (2021)

SCAM ALERT: Attention Local Crew Members

A short film job opportunity offering a rate of $1,800 (a drastically higher than standard rate) has been emailed to members of the Ohio film community. It is our estimation that this is a FALSE project that is intended to be a phishing scheme.

If you are promised a higher-than-normal rate and/or are asked to secure locations or equipment with a blank check, this is not a normal request.

If you receive this type of email, please let us know or ignore it. Thank you!

The Greater Cleveland Film Commission (GCFC) is proud of its success in attracting 6 new productions to choose Northeast Ohio in the most recent Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit application round.

In combination with recent application rounds, GCFC has booked 17 productions with total combined budgets of $208,002,972 to choose to film in Northeast Ohio in 2024, including the recently wrapped high-profile Warner Bros. and Disney movies.

As a result of the GCFC’s advocacy and attraction efforts, those two productions directly spent a combined $77,572,289 in Northeast Ohio in 2024, hired hundreds of crew, engaged with hundreds of local businesses, and booked 30,966 hotel room nights (over $4.5 million spent).

• - today we are leaving you after six amazing weeks of shooting. From the moment we first came here on a scout a tad less than a year ago and Terminal Tower was lit up with the colors of Superman, I knew you were a special place. I would walk down your streets and someone would stop me and tell me how grateful they were we were shooting in their city - not once, not twice, but dozens of times. The wonderful background actors on the film were always so fun and funny and they clapped after takes, something that reminded us Hollywood cynics why we make movies in the first place. The pride you feel in being where Jerry and Joe first created Superman was invigorating. You exemplify his spirit. But just as much it’s the pride you have in your community, your hometown, your radio stations and restaurants and gathering places that touched me. Every city would be so lucky to have people that loved their city as much as you. You simply couldn’t have been more wonderful, kind, or accommodating to me and our performers and crew. Thank you a thousand times over for being our friends and partners on this film. Much love to you all.🙏🧜‍♂️❤️

We create jobs in Northeast Ohio.

The Greater Cleveland Film Commission (GCFC) is the only nonprofit dedicated to bringing jobs and economic impact to Northeast Ohio by supporting a thriving and adaptive local media industry. GCFC relies on the support of businesses, community partners, and the generosity of individuals for funding.

Since 2009, the State of Ohio has seen more than $700 million in economic impact and created more than 5,000 full-time equivalent jobs thanks to media production.

GCFC was instrumental in procuring state funding for a standalone School of Film, Television and Interactive Media at Cleveland State University, and has continued its involvement in the development of the school’s faculty and curriculum after its opening in Fall 2017.

We are continuing to focus our efforts to increase the Ohio Motion Picture Tax Credit to $100 million and create a sustainable, long-term program that instills confidence to the industry. With your financial support, GCFC is committed to creating jobs, growing our population and bringing more business to Cleveland.
