The Macomb ISD Special Education Bond proposal is the first time Macomb ISD has ever asked the public for a bond, but we feel it's absolutely necessary. This .17 mill proposal will cost the average homeowner less than 20 dollars per year and will greatly enhance the lives of special needs students and their families.

Special education needs have changed over the years. And, as these parents will tell you, facilities built over 60 years ago just don't have enough space to accommodate today's larger special needs population and all their equipment.

When you are in a wheelchair, have a physical disability or cognitive development delay, the basic needs of using a bathroom are different. Providing an accessible bathroom for special needs children during the school day is a basic need.

The Macomb ISD Special Education Bond, if passed by voters, would provide funding to upgrade and improve bathrooms at some of our oldest school buildings in order to best accommodate the needs of all our students.

The Macomb Infant Preschool Program serves children from birth to age 3 who need special education services because of a medical difficulty or have a developmental delay that can affect learning. Our Early On program provides early intervention services that help children and families enhance learning and development.

The Macomb ISD Special Education Bond, if passed by voters, would fund upgrades to the facility, equipment and technology that will help our special students get off to a better start. Please consider this bond on your November 8 ballot.

Special needs students require special equipment. Adaptive use chairs and desks, even adaptive swings and playground equipment, supportive devices, equipment that assists in learning and sensory development, and vision and hearing aids are all necessary for our special needs students to develop and grow.

The Macomb ISD Special Education Bond proposal includes funding to replace worn, aging equipment and purchase newly designed equipment to enrich the learning of our students. The bond proposal is on the November 8 general election ballot. Be sure to look in the nonpartisan section to cast your vote.
