Student showcase of handmade items from one of HCBs sewing classes in partnership with WCCCD
HCB offers family friendly programming that allows mothers to place children with our onsite child sitters or sometimes sit in classes with mommies.
No language barriers in joy or friendship...
Our guests from Wisconsin have a chat & a laugh with refugee ladies of our Dearborn campus.
Thanks Sandy & Rosie!
HCB received a visit from the , special children's books authored by Sandy herself, meant to provide confidence, encouragement, & positive self worth by introducing & instilling virtues such as forgiveness, gratitude, cooperation, respect, responsibility, & honesty, among positive character traits.
Children and moms had a chance to meet the Good Eggs, Seggourney, Reggie, Megg, Greggory, Peggy & Benedict, a friend group who go about doing good, and learning to do good, in their community.
After a story to the moms & children, The Good Eggs Foundation passed out free school supplies the families.
Thanks, TheGood EggsFoundation!
A smashing time with a visit to our Dearborn IFC from special volunteers all the way from Wisconsin!
Ladies from LWML Wisconsin District bused in to visit Hope Care and Beyond's Dearborn IFC.
They helped prep and organize our sewing class supplies, provided personal tutoring and conversation practice sessions with our ESL learners, helped out in the child care room, and had a chance to meet lady Manju who hails from Nepal, here on assignment with her husband, Neeraj.
After a bustling and fulfilling day, we loaded up the bus and headed for lunch Restaurant in Dearborn that most graciously served our guests a delicious, family style, Lebanese Middle Eastern meal of lentil soup, falafel, kibbee, roasted chicken, and other delights.
HCB's Community Engagement Director, Cynthia Khan, meets with women of @ AACC during an anti-trafficking session to provide additional program resources available through HCB.
Thanks to WCCCD, a wonderful partner in education and training, we have begun our culinary arts class meeting once a month at the Northwestern Campus.
First class, Chef Lorenzo worked with women on measurements and safety and sanitization while preparing their first dishes of chicken alfredo, broccoli, and salad (mmm😋)
Special thanks to Dr. Fidelis D'Cunha District Provost for Diversity Equity and Inclusion at Wayne County Community College District who has been a great ally to the women of the refugee, immigrant, as well as disadvantaged American born communities we have been serving.
Thanks, Woodside, for Hope Week!
Thank you, Woodside Bible Church! Hope Week was Amazing!
For a week, Woodside's youth group came to our Dearborn campus to help us with deep spring cleaning the grounds, classrooms, child care rooms and storage areas. The industrious and good spirited young people willingly helped us move out outdated equipment, bag up fabrics, scrub floors and dig up weeds.
At the end of Wednesday's session, young people and students met each other and learned the stories of one of our translator/teachers from Afghanistan, and an ESL student from Yemen.
Thanks, Woodside!
Thanks to St. Luke Clinic for providing an informative talk session at our Dearborn campus on the FREE pre & post natal care offered through their clinic.
Remember that time Mr. Ron of Reaching and Discipling, Inc. , Andre, Pastor Bodley, Elder Vance and the rest of the amazing, robust team of Lutheran-Detroit helped to load & then unload about 15 heavy duty sewing machines for the free community sewing program?

As proclaimed by the governor of Michigan, June recognizes & celebrates two important communities, our immigrant & refugee neighbors.
The entire month of June acknowledges the important contributions immigrants have made to building & strengthening our state as well as our country. Refugee Day is June 20 & celebrates their great perserverance & resiliance, their contributions, & that Michigan is a state of Welcome.

Our amazing Afghan interpreter, Oranos, has been instrumental in bridging the language barrier between us, & the diverse other languages we speak beside English, & the Afghan speakers of Dari, Pashto & Farsi. In addition to interpreting language, she helps us translate communications of events, activities & schedule changes to the international community
In the first & second photos, she interprets the scarf tying sessions & gets wrapped as well, & in the third, helps to explain the importance of reading nutrition labels & how to w/ the nutritionist.
Whoop! Whoop! Congratulations to our most recent sewing training cohort and to those in our ESL class who we celebrated program promotion & completion.
Not to single out the fellas, but men are welcome in both classes! Last class session we had two gentlemen across the age spectrum who were seeking to learn the craft. This session we had a gentleman, a tailor by trade in Afghanistan, seeking to practice & perfect his craft.
Nice job, fellas & ladies! Congratulations, again!
Thank you for the pantry donation!
