This year’s Run Drugs Out of Town wasn’t just a race, but a wave of strength and love, exemplified so perfectly by people like Kody Taverner.

Kody ran again this year for his twin sister Brooke, and the In Memory of Brooke Taverner team was the largest RDOT team for the third consecutive year, with 71 members. “I’m here for Brooke,” Kody said. “I’m here for FAN.”

We are incredibly proud of Kody and his family for finding the strength to honor Brooke and help us raise money to assist individuals and families who have been affected by addiction.

🏃 To those who ran or walked for a loved one lost to addiction: Your courage inspired us all. We join you in remembering those we’ve lost too soon.

🏃 To those who ran or walked for a loved one facing addiction: You’re not alone in this journey. We stand with you, celebrating your unwavering support.

🏃 To everyone who joined us: Thank you for being part of something bigger. Together, we’re making a difference.

Share your story or the story of someone you ran or walked for in the comments! Let’s keep the conversation going. 🩵

Three FAN team members had a productive day teaching and sharing at Detroit Manufacturing Systems (DMS) this month! Erin Lalka Whitkopf (Program Director of FAN's COMEBACK Quick Response Team), Thomas Hunter (Wayne County Boundary Spanner for FAN), and Alfonzo Franklin (Community Health Worker for FAN’s Detroit Quick Response Team), visited the Detroit business to share details about what FAN does.

In addition to providing information about FAN’s free services to employees and attendees, they conducted a Narcan training and equipped DMS staff with free Narcan. (FAN will also be providing DMS with an on-site Narcan dispenser for their facility soon.)

Javon Reese from Black Family Development also shared valuable insights on men’s mental health, and Nina Bowser from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) led a discussion on su***de prevention.

A BIG thank you to DMS management for supporting this crucial initiative. 💙

Fear and isolation can drive individuals further away from seeking treatment and deeper into their substance use — that's why we offer compassion instead of criminalization.

💙 Hope Not Handcuffs is a collaborative effort between FAN, law enforcement, and community organizations that opens pathways to treatment and provides viable options to reduce harm and drug dependence.

We believe that offering assistance rather than arrest brings those affected closer to safety and recovery. 🤝🔓

NHCW allows us to recognize and celebrate the vital role community health centers play in ensuring healthcare access for all, particularly for underserved populations across the U.S.

Their dedication empowers vulnerable groups to access quality care and make informed choices for their well-being. 💙

From August 8th to 14th, let's continue to highlight and support their invaluable contributions in shaping healthier communities.
