This project is dedicated to my Nana! After hearing her story I decided I wanted to help other migrant moms. My grandma made her journey from Sinaloa, Mexico to the United States at the age of 26. She was a mother of three and expecting her fourth child at the time of her journey. She decided she wanted a better life for her children.
Growing up I never heard my grandmother complain about how tired she was or how hard her life was. Now that I’m a mother I have learned that you will literally kill yourself as long as it means your children will have a great life.

“TW: This is the impact statement I read at my abuser’s sentencing hearing. The hearing that determined the value of my abuse and suffering was worth 148 years in prison. Although many people see that high number and might think it’s great, it’s just not enough, in my opinion. My abuser will most likely not sit in prison for 148 years. He will serve the years his health will allow him and his suffering will be over. However, I will continue to teach myself how to live with this trauma until I die. People think that when the abuse stops for the victims, their life is automatically better. That is not the case. Things get worse and they get worse fast. You and your feelings have just sat on the wildest emotional rollercoaster of your lives. And those around you don’t understand or are angry because you’re not smiles and positivity 24/7. Now that it’s over, you’re just beginning to process what was being done to you. Just know that this is normal, and there are others feeling the same way. Don’t give up and work on healing at your own pace! you got this!
Also, child abuse is real. don’t blame the parents or the child. BLAME THE ABUSER. Let’s make this stop! no child deserves to be robbed of their childhood. Ningún niño/a más!’

"I was always too scared to speak up about being s*xually abused because I would hear how my family talked about other girls that were abused and was too scared to hear what they would say about me."
TW, feel free to leave some words of encouragement in the comments!🤍:
“I grew up in a house with a lot of my family members. Ever since i could remember my grandmas nephew that happened to be one of the people living with us made me kiss him. It later progressed to me having to do more things to him, not by choice ofc. I was always told that if i said anything he would get deported and my whole family would fall apart. He would also hit me.But i didn’t know this was bad since i was a kid and he was family. As the years went by it got worse than I expected, he ruined my relationship with my sibling and my parents. Getting mad at me whenever i hanged out with them more than him. He controlled my whole life, even by going as far to tell my school he was my father. As things got more physical my body was sore and tired and it was then until 6th grade when everything went downhill. I started getting a sense that something was wrong with me and i would enter school every single day crying because of what he did to me before school started, i felt like i couldn’t escape since my parents worked all the time. I wanted to kill myself without fulling knowing what was going on with me.I didn’t want to make my mom or dad worry. 7th grade was when things started to stop since he had gotten a girlfriend. It was when i was in 8th grade when he finally ran away for an unknown reason. I’ve never told any of my family because of how scared I am, I don’t want my mom or dad to find out because i’m scared of how they’ll react. they’ve asked me multiple times if that man has done anything to me and i still deny. I learned how to deal with it on my own and i’m managing okay on my own”
