WHAT 👏🏽 A 👏🏽 RIIIIIIIIIDE 👏🏽

Last month I began my full time artist journey. To say that every thing is flowers and rainbows would be inaccurate, but my soul is the happiest it’s been in a long time 🙏🏽 Being able to connect with other full time artists and entrepreneurs and have many needed conversations was everything.

People, when I tell you TAMPA SHOWED UP 👏🏽🙌🏽👏🏽🙌🏽!!! We attracted crowds, we networked, we brought in some celebs… People definitely knew we were in the house!

To our Tampa art (and some non-art) family that made the trip to come out and support, WE ARE ALL SO VERY GRATEFUL! 🙌🏽 The love our community gives each other helps not only through the ups, but also the downs of this art thing. We lift each other up and remind each other of what we are really in this for. Thank you for the grounding 🙏🏽

Art Basel inspired me to do great things for 2024. I truly look forward to what’s to come 🙌🏽

Introducing my latest piece, The Story of Mawu Lisa.

Mawu and Lisa, known as Mawu-Lisa, are twins Gods worshipped by the coastal West-African tribes, the Fon and Ewe. Mawu , the female God, is the Creator of the Moon. She is the Goddess of night, joy, creativity and fertility. Her symbols are clay and the moon. She is the twin and wife of her brother, Lisa.

The Story of Mawu Lisa will be making its debut at Art Basel this week, so if you’re in town, stop by to see her… or even buy her 😁🙌🏽

Any artist will tell you that their craft is their peace. Painting has granted me so many things - especially the the chance to see growth within myself year after year. I think it’s important to keep learning, growing and be proud of what you’ve accomplished. Don’t forget to breathe in between each project, express gratitude and reflect on your accomplishment. 🙏🏽

Did you know you live among giants? I’ve had the honor of meeting some giants this year and I can’t express my gratitude 🙏🏽 To be able to connect with some of the art world’s great minds is a truly wonderful experience.

Last night I had the pleasure of FINALLY connecting with . I attended an event by in which I was able to view Ya’s latest installation, .

The feeling you get walking through the door is automatically , with so many elements from the surrounding you peacefully.

My dad and I have been playing around with different sheens and designs for my frames, and to see how the frames were designed and constructed for this event was inspiring.

Ya, you are an incredible light. Your work is thoughtful, powerful and . Your words, true, intentional and thought-provoking. to artist, I’m to have connected with you in this small blip of time 🙏🏽

I can’t find the words to describe this feeling. made me feel like my craft is respected as an artist. From the staff/volunteers to the delicious meals and so much more, I’m so for the experience.

I got to network with some giants in the mural world who were so incredibly kind and were willing to answer my many, many questions.

Two hours reduced to a minute. I really enjoy doing these free hand murals. There’s something freeing about just going with your imagination and trusting that what comes out on the other side is what you had envisioned (or sometimes better). I can’t say enough how grateful I am for the places my art takes me. There’s another side to that, though. And that’s the people I encounter along way.

I’ve never had a barber I connected with ever since I cut all my hair off 15*years ago. About 7 years ago I met at an event and the rest is history. He’s not just incredibly talented with his craft, but he’s genuinely an amazing, selfless human being.

This is the first time he’s seen one of the paintings in person that I modeled after his haircuts. I’m so very grateful to you for allowing me to the opportunity to cross crafts and collaborate on this series. It’s been an honor, my friend 🙏🏽

In the final installment for the series featuring the and clients of , I can definitely see the growth.

This series has been very fun and I’m grateful to all who have allowed me use their likeness to complete it.

Confirmed 2023 artist The Artist Jones paints vibrate-colored portraits of powerful black and brown people in their greatness because it is what she is meant to do. The artist’s works are explorations of the stories and hidden influences of character and legacy for each subject. Through bold references set against a dynamic background, the artist captures a single moment in a character’s life, drawing viewers in to experience these stories through a new lens. For the first part of my journey, I ran from . I didn’t want it contaminating my sacred space. Seems it was stuck to my shoe all along.

This weekend I spent time with some of my fav fellow . I found in them and I had seen around me. Yesterday, I was finally able to after a rough dry spell.

Not sure what I’ll title this. There will be no physical original as I’m using this for the background to my fourth Head in the Clouds piece.
