Glad to see Zillow monitors their mailbox. If you’ve experienced any issues with scammers on their platform, send them a detailed email with screenshots, names, phone numbers, or other pertinent information.

If we stay silent, the scammer plague will continue to grow. It is up to us to share with our community and report it accordingly.

BEWARE OF TENANT SCAMMERS…that’s right. Tenants are not the only ones getting scammed. We’ve had a HUGE surge of scammers trying to lease from my company providing fake SS , fake pay stubs, you name it…FAKE. Stolen SS , stolen credit cards, you name it.

Here’s the issue, once this plague get in your property… it is at least 30 days to get them out.

BEWARE of ZILLOW applications…this is their main resource to play the system. If I were you, I would disable those Zillow applications or have them also fill out your own application and vetting through your preferred background and credit check company.

How to mitigate getting scammed:

- showing the house personally
- asking for and having a photo id for showings and prior to move ins
-do not allow tenants to move in until payment/security deposit and first month’s rent has cleared or ask for certified funds or cash
***it takes up to 3 business days for a non-sufficient charge to show as NSF in your account…once they move in…it’s already too late.

Scammers know we all like automation, and with automation comes an opportunity for scammers to find a way into your property. Now more than ever, face to face transactions are utmost important. You cannot trust anyone online.

Day in and day out we see posts on the REI social media groups regarding education, invest in yourself, systems, processes, etc... yet, no one ever talks or says anything about RESILIENCE. Yes, resilience. Those that have been in this business for longer than we have (2 years), know it takes intestinal fortitude, can-do attitude, flexibility, and RESILIENCE to make it.

Do you have what it takes to bounce back in the face of adversity? Using an analogy, are you the tennis ball that bounces back or the egg that breaks when it drops? There are always setbacks in this business, always!!! So, mentally prepare yourself for the worst. Have systems in place that will help you overcome any obstacles. Count your blessings everyday. Don’t be too hard on yourself; have someone that will lift you up. The aforementioned are so invaluable not only in real estate but in any business. Oh and most importantly, trust in the highest and almighty.

We had some setbacks on this property. We had to postpone listing it. But here we are...showings and offers are pouring in. See...count your blessings.
