Murkwood has always been a love letter from our team to dubstep. Over the past year especially that love has grown to include not just an appreciation for the sound of the music but also the direction of the music -- where it came from, where it is, where it's going

We've always held a very high standard on who we book for our events, nothing is worth compromising the vision of the show, and that's why we've stacked this year's lineup top to bottom with selectors that not just play our music of choice but selectors that EMBODY that music and the culture around it

We promised this one would be stacked top to bottom, left to right, and that's why we've curated TWO stages of music with TWO different rigs, playing music ALL NIGHT LONG for our birthday party

Very excited to finally share the last spotlight for HORIZONS tomorrow: .dub

Mallory Scott, better known by her stage name of Metamorphose, is a producer/DJ based in Columbus, OH. A longtime friend of Null, Metamorphose was the very first person to reach out to us about playing Murkwood when the event was still in its infancy back in 2021 and she's been a regular performer and vibe setter ever since, having taken part in takeovers we've hosted as well as spreading the sounds that are associated with our events via DJing for promoters around the city.

Metamorphose's sets explore the delicate balance between light and darkness to take listeners on a journey comprised of dungeonesque beats, crunchy synths, and atmosphere darker than midnight during a new moon. Armed with tasteful originals (including a collaboration EP with Basura entitled The Haunting!) and well selected tunes to match her emotional tapestry of choice, Metamorphose has provided support to dubstep heavyweights like Khiva, Sicaria, A Hundred Drums, and more!

Aside from her musical pursuits Metamorphose also creates and sells clothing under the name Grim Ravin Malice ! She will also be vending during our event tomorrow.

This is Metamorphose's first set back since going on hiatus over a year ago, and we're extremely excited to have her open up the final HORIZONS at tomorrow!

Our only guest DJ this month is long time friend to Null of .events in Cleveland

Bando is a Cleveland-based DJ/Producer that gravitates towards Deep Dubstep, Experimental Bass, and Trap with a background in classical violin. His sound fuses low-end bass with rap/hip-hop elements that are sure to get your head bobbing! He has been DJing for 7 years and draws his biggest influences from EPROM, Mr. Carmack, and Truth, to name a few. Bando has opened for countless touring bass acts such as G Jones and Dirt Monkey in renowned venues in Cleveland, Columbus, Denver and Pittsburgh from the Agora and Stage AE to the Black Box Lounge. Lately, he has been locked in and focused on music production, with a recent release on Erie Sounds Record Label.

Bando has made numerous appearances at Null events -- he's played both our anniversary parties thus far, he played our big collaborative event with Allegedly Defeated last spring, he even played our short-lived series Octane; Null musical endeavors simply don't feel complete without a Bando set and we're stoked to welcome him back to close out the HORIZONS stage this Friday at !

We continue our resident spotlights for this Friday with Null's

Producer, DJ, audio engineer, lighting engineer, music educator, and all around sonic renaissance man Aaron Rigg, lovingly known in the community as xDiggityDee, is one of less than a handful of people in Columbus that can say they've been with Null Entertainment since the beginning. Diggity is the mastermind behind the visual production at our events and is usually seen at front of house weaving together the environments that define our shows. Through his work in the industry Diggity has rightfully earned his reputation of being a dependable performer that can fill any slot of the night via delivering nuanced sets filled with originals from himself and peers in the local community, as well as well-dug tunes from labels and independent artists around the world.

Diggity's original music incorporates growling synths sprinkled with an array of slappy-deep drums supplemented with high energy and deep bass, and has recently been heard providing direct support to the likes of Ahee and Ujuu, as well as other acts ranging in prominence from nationally known acts like Minnesota and The Glitch Mob to up and comers like YDG. Beyond his pursuits as a performer and his pursuits with Null, xDiggityDee is also part of a trio known as Creature Gang (alongside and ) who throw the annual campout BASSBQ ()

Incredibly excited to feature and to kick off our spotlights for the show next Friday

Mike Powers, more properly known as Powers Up, is a producer/DJ based in Columbus, OH. His remarkable talent ranges through a variety of genres but where his heart truly lies is Drum and Bass and Deep Dubstep. He has been honing his craft with many self releases via Bandcamp, Soundcloud and most streaming services over the years and most recently finding support on labels Widdfam and Erie Sounds.

Beyond his work as a producer Powers Up also runs his own collective LISN UP and is a phenomenal show photographer (a lot of his work has been featured on our page recently!)

Based in Dayton, OH, Aidan King, aka ROTTEN, is a producer that has been making waves in the Midwest and East coast. Taking heavy inspiration from the deep and minimal styles of soundsystem heavyhitters Distinct Motive, Chef Boyarbeatz, Ternion Sound, and Criso; ROTTEN carves a forward-facing path in the historic sound of dubstep while also paying homage to the pioneers of the sound.

Rotten and Powers Up will be joining forces for the first time next Friday for a b2b set in direct support of our headliners and !

Today we're excited to share that our secret guests for the third and final HORIZONS are none other than and ! This is going to be nnämba's third play in Columbus and Nosium's second, both via Null, and we're very excited to welcome them back to play between the brackets.

Buffalo, New York native nnämba (pronounced mamba) works to push the boundaries of original sound design through minimal dubstep and bass music alike. His percussion arrangements are inspired by jazz, metal and world music. Pulling inspiration from experiences in life, listeners are taken to a soulful yet sinister place through sound. Like the Black Mamba, there is much deadly intention and no limits to where sound may strike next.

Also hailing from Buffalo, New York, Nosium is an upcoming force in the dubstep and bass music scene. Armed with a deep passion for all things bass, Nosium cultivates a unique sound that is sure to get you moving. Whether he is delivering original DJ sets or captivating audiences with 100% live and improvised looping performances, Nosium consistently pushes the boundaries of live bass music.

Comprised of New York dubstep legends and .wubs Queen City Collective is a newly formed dubstep group based in Buffalo, New York. If you were in Columbus last June you might have been lucky enough to see all four of them perform and reveal this collective on stage for one of our events!

Support in the form of Null production lead and producer , a back-to-back of residents and producers extraordinaires and , a return from hiatus of Null veteran .dub and our good friend of .events to fill in the guest DJ role

Second, and (speaking as David here instead of as the company), I cannot believe I'm saying this after how turbulent this year has been, but MURKWOOD is making it's return for our anniversary show

Rockside ()
Nick Mastronardi, better known by his alternate persona of Rockside, is a artist driven by crafting eclectic styles of world and bass music, low end dubstep, and hip hop. Some of his influences include eastern/world music, African/Spanish dance grooves, Rap, Glitch Hop, and Dubstep. One of many of his goals is to bring as many people as possible together through music. His inspirations include Flying Lotus, Kendrick Lamar, Clozee, Of the Trees, Charlesthefirst, and his late brother Easterpink. Lately, Rockside has been exploring the different realms of Liquid DNB and UGK. With nearly 7 years of production under his belt Rockside continues to innovate and keep the tradition of music live and well.

Subdermal Sound ()
Ethan and Dorian Thornbury are a father son duo project that perform and produce under the name Subdermal Sound. Specializing in promoting and platforming underground artists/music through their own events, the duo has a history of inspiration from Detroit Techno all the way to early 90s ragga jungle. These influences combined have morphed into the multigenre entity that is Subdermal Sound/Soundsystem.

Ethan will be joining us tonight to close out HORIZONS, fresh off a new release via !

Joining forces under the moniker of Jamaican Sunset, David Irwin and Liam Torres, better known by their stage names of squid and Spice Lee respectively, present an exploration of dub reggae in the context of contemporary sound system music. Armed with a strong appreciation of Jamaican sound system culture and the derivatives it has given rise to, the duo hope to not just share the roots of the culture our shows are built on but to build a better appreciation and understanding of the current day sound by interweaving modern dub, old-school dubstep, and contemporary beats all to an orange backdrop as the sun sets in direct support of

Persephone ()
Null Entertainment's head selectress is Marley Rivers, better known by her stage name of Persephone. With over a decade of soundsystem music work under her belt, Persephone brings an appreciation of the sound to the table that few others can match and even fewer can present. Lovingly referred to by the community as "dubstep's history teacher", Persephone aims to educate and carry the torch of classic dubstep -- masterfully mixing tunes from the primordial era of the genre with modern day sound system smashers. Last HORIZONS Persephone put together a set comprised of tracks released pre-2009 and she intends to continue class this Friday with a set focused on the 2010-2016 era of dubstep.

So excited to share that our special guest this month for HORIZONS is none other than HI-VI Soundsystem's Tunic

Soundsystem music champion Pat Gubner, better known as Tunic, is coming to rock the Null PK Rig and flatten mountains this Friday. This is Tunics second appearance at a Null event, having played Murkwood back in March 2023 alongside Chief Kaya (with King Shotta on toasting duties), XL, squid and Tim Steelyard of Steel Yard Soundsystem -- if you made it out to that show you already know that Tunic reps the sounds and culture our events are built on. His weighty rhythms, ranging across the spectrum of dungeonesque 2AM stompers, bouncy triplet flows, wobbly beats, and late night chillers can be found on respected labels like LDH, ENDZ, and Foto Sounds.

Currently based in Asheville NC, Tunic is also the owner/operator of HI-VI Soundsystem; flying the sound system culture flag high throughout East Coast by hosting events and providing sonic support to other events in his region.

KosmiK, born and raised in Columbus OH, grew up on the sounds of high energy dubstep artists like Klaypex, Zomboy, and Nero. As he journeyed deeper into the sound he eventually became exposed and fell in love with the low end thump of real dubstep and the 2step rhythm of drum and bass. From this journey KosmiK has had the opportunity to open for legends and up-and-comers in the game like Bukez Finezt, Glitch Mob, Notixx, J. Kenzo and Ourman. Take a journey into sound tonight and explore different genres all under the masterful hands of KosmiK -- from UKG bangers, to DnB chillers and thrillers, to 140 dubstep.

Now with 80% less hair, David Irwin, also known as squid, is a DJ of many vibes -- whether that be dancefloor stompers, chilled-out heart-string pullers, reggae influenced steppers, or something else entirely; squid prides himself on being able to hone in on an emotion and build a sonic atmosphere around it. As the owner/operator of Null Entertainment, squid is our longest running resident and de facto example of a soundsystem music DJ in Columbus, OH. Heralded as "a DJ that represents a new wave of music in our city" (1), "the mayor of Columbus" (2), "the best DJ I know" (3), "sensei" (4) and "really handsome" (5) by respected industry members of Columbus and beyond, squid is a trusted tastemaker that leaves a memorable impression on the crowd with every performance.

Co-head of Null Entertainment, Marley Rivers, better known as Persephone, is a dubstep and soundsystem culture aficionado that has been entrenched in the scene in various roles for well over a decade. Touting herself as "dubstep's history teacher" few match her passion for the sound and even less have the knowledge to back it up. Persephone's sound is defined by grime heavy selections interwoven with guttural driving dubstep, taking inspiration from artists like Digital Mystikz, Distance, and Kryptic Minds.

Persephone has curated a history of dubstep set for HORIZONS, comprised of tracks released between 2004-2009. Come hear the early roots of the sounds our events are built on right after sunset this Friday!

Null Entertainment's resident sound system producer ArkZen is gonna be running direct support duties this Friday.

For the unaware and uninitiated, Noah McDonald, better known as ArkZen, is a sound system music producer and DJ -- having been involved with Null since the beginning and one of the first artists we approached before even throwing Murkwood, ArkZen is intimately aware of the roots of not just the company but the culture its events were started from. His productions ride the border of the energetic and beautiful, capable of composing a mixture of heavy hitting, punchy dubstep, garage, and DnB, or venturing over to the more emotional side of the spectrum with his winter solstice releases.

A smooth operator on the decks, you can expect to hear a garage-heavy set this Friday on the patio, with a sprinkle of dubstep to round out the energy before OldGold steps up to the plate.

We're so excited to reveal our secret guest for HORIZONS this Friday: OldGold

Rolando Ramiro, better known as OldGold, is a producer, DJ, agent, label head, promoter, graphic designer, and all around force to be reckoned within the soundsystem music area of the industry.

The founder of Silent Motion Records, there isn't a piece of the scene that OldGold hasn't touched. With recent plays at Infrasound Music Festival (Equinox) and Texas Eclipse 2024, and fresh off his Dubplate tour, we're excited to welcome OldGold back to Columbus (his last play with us was in February of 2023 for Murkwood with Hebbe and Hunter Reed) for a label showcase set for the inaugural edition of HORIZONS.

Thursday crew! We're gearing up for Horizons and doing a little Sound Check next week at the Kee with some new friends. The venue has given us full permission to rip the system and that's just what we intend to do.
