GLR-OH-284 Name Change Ceremony On Wednesday, April 10th, the Miami Valley Composite Squadron hosted a name change ceremony. In attendance, representing the Orville & Wilbur Wright family, was Mr. Stephen Wright, great-nephew of the Wright Brothers. Representatives from the Ohio Wing were also in attendance. The squadron has 32 senior members and 26 cadets who participate in search & rescue training exercises, drill competition, and summer encampments as both staff and student cadets. The squadron also supports local community events. A new patch was created to commemorate the name change that shows the Wright Flyer, the Great Miami River, and the atom symbol to show their proximity to the Mound Laboratory Research facility. The squadron motto, "Sic Parvis Magna" means "Greatness from small things," which was used by Sir Francis Drake in his global voyages. The squadron proudly promoted their new name last evening to demonstrate their support of the Dayton area aviation history.

Marksmanship Activity Highlights - October 15 - 16, 2022 This past weekend cadets from OHWG Group 1 participated in a marksmanship activity. The host range was the Middletown Sportsman's Club and the rifle instruction was provided by Project Appleseed instructors. Cadets were taught traditional rifle marksmanship from standing, sitting/kneeling, and prone positions over a "two-day" weekend shooting clinic for what is termed an "Appleseed." Cadets also heard stories during their lunch and at breaks from the Revolutionary War. We are pleased that Project Appleseed instructors are committed to providing this two-day marksmanship clinic to our cadets at the Middletown Sportsman's Club again in 2023. The OHWG Encampment will be held the weekends of October 22 and Oct 29 at the Schiewetz Leadership Training Center (at Cricket Holler Boy Scout Camp) located at 6444 Frederick Pike, Dayton, OH.
