Happy Friday! Don and I just returned from a week-long road trip out West, and many of you who’ve made the same journey know how breathtaking the views can be. Every turn reveals something new, whether it’s the stunning red rock formations or the vast boulders scattered across the Utah plains.
It’s not just the scenery, either—there’s a vibrant energy out here, and it seems like everyone, including the local deer, gets in on the fun! We decided to fully embrace the Western spirit by spending one night in a teepee. It was hot, but the experience was well worth it.
The most thrilling part of the trip for me was crossing the Glen Canyon Dam Bridge, one of the highest bridges in the U.S. Heights aren’t my thing, so I could barely glance over the edge, but I did manage to snap a few photos from the park to share a glimpse of the incredible view.
We wrapped up our adventure in the charming village of Telluride, CO, just in time for the Blues and Brews Festival. The town was alive with energy and it was the perfect way to end our summer vacation.

Today’s jobs report shook the markets as employers added 142,000 jobs in August, missing the 160,000 forecast by economists. Unemployment eased slightly to 4.2%, as expected, but the labor market’s weaker performance has raised concerns.

Hello everyone and happy Friday, May 31st!
Yesterday, Don had the honor of serving as a guardian for two incredible veterans on Honor Flight Mission 132. Southwest is the sponsored airline and they leave early in the morning to head to Washington, D.C., for a memorable day of camaraderie. Honor Flight is dedicated to honoring America's senior veterans with a trip to our nation’s capital to visit the memorials.
The guardian team, recognizable in blue shirts, accompanies the veterans to various memorials, including those dedicated to the Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Women’s Services, as well as the magnificent WWII Memorial.
Throughout the day, they had the pleasure of encouraging the veterans to share their service stories, These stories often bring tears of joy and sometimes sadness.
The day concluded with a heartwarming welcome home parade in the airport's main concourse. This is particularly moving, as many of these veterans, especially from the Vietnam era, never received a proper thank you for their service.
We encourage all of you to visit honorflightcmh.org and get involved, either as a guardian or a veteran. It will be an unforgettable experience.

What an interesting week we had. Over the past 5 months, we’ve watched a remarkable shift in the financial markets now fully anticipating only one quarter point interest rate cut from the Federal Reserve this year, which is a stark contrast to the six cuts projected in futures prices at the start of 2024.
The upside of this shift is the impressive strength of the ongoing U.S. economic expansion. However, on the downside, this very strength makes it more challenging for the Fed to envision inflation reaching its target. They just don’t seem to be ready to pull the trigger on that first cut.
Thursday's big swing on Wall Street clearly reflected this dynamic. Despite Nvidia's 10% surge on another stellar earnings report driven by the artificial intelligence boom, surprisingly strong business and labor market updates resulted in a rough day.
As the U.S. Memorial Day holiday approaches on Monday, major price indicators have partially reversed Thursday's moves and things have settled back down.
AAA projects nearly 44 million will be traveling over the Memorial Day weekend. 38 million traveling by car with the average gas price being $3.65 per gallon. If you’re a Coscto fan like me and Joni, they hold the cheapest price in town coming in at $3.06 a gallon.
On behalf of our team, this Memorial Day weekend, we honor those who have made the greatest sacrifice for our country. Memorial Day is a day of remembrance; honoring our heroes who served to hold our flag high.

The DOW at 40,000
America’s oldest and most popular stock index, the Dow Jones Industrial Average crossed 40,000 for the first time ever on Thursday, reflecting optimism after this week’s positive inflation report.
However, inflation still remains high with a large contributor being housing and gas prices. Let me remind you, lower inflation means prices are rising more slowly, not necessarily decreasing.
