What an absolute honor to kick off HOBY Ohio South as the keynote speaker! Today I talked about “Leading without a title” and my unconventional routes to becoming a leader many times in my life. Thank you for having me !
I first met Ernest after opening my doors back up right after quarantine. I was behind on what work was left, stressed and feeling like I was losing it all. He came and talked for hours. What I took away from that was a reminder: even when we have seemingly nothing we still have something to give.
Our relationship grew over the years. He challenged me to continue to give back to the community using my knowledge and voice. When I closed my Parsons Ave shop and became a career technical educator I took his lessons with me and even created chess club at our school, Hilltonia. I was honored to see him step in and lead some of our students inside and outside of the school through his foundation
Everest suffered a brain aneurysm earlier this month and his wife is due to give birth with their second child soon. Please consider donating to his family or you can Venmo me and I’ll send it to them or find more information on his page .radicle or
Ernest is a community leader, advocate and master at challenging others to better not only themselves but carry others along the way.
“When we came up with this idea we thought of you.” - Mikey
Eric reached out on behalf of the team not too long ago for a custom utility product going in to the LNS locations.
Mikey and I met almost a decade ago during a unique event called Startup Storytellers. A hand selected group of entrepreneurs shared their stories of a critical “leap” in their lives that set forth the foundation for their businesses. I have cherished each of the relationships I made during that process and event.
Another successful class for at Linden McKinley! Students talked about startup costs of a business, product design and much more. Project based learning is a key foundation of critical thinking during the learning process in a world evolving toward instant gratification. These projects slow the process down and the payoff is overwhelming. www.griffenhollowstudio.com
Stabilization process underway on these maple burls for knife scales (handles).
New knife scales headed to in Minnesota. Can’t wait to see what they look like finished! 🔪
It was a pleasure to step into Hilltonia and Westmoor Middle Schools to create hands on activities for the students of The groups learned about team building, consensus, ratios, product design processes, color mixing and much more. The end results were absolutely stunning chess boards. Looking forward to Linden McKinley next up on the list!
Been at this for over a decade! Thanks for all the work from Columbus to overseas. What can I make for you?
Let's talk about promotional products. Branded pens, shirts, stress balls, mugs. The number of items you can throw your logo or some messaging onto are insane.
Do you believe in them for your business?
The more you know your audience the more you can really create promotional pieces that they will utilize in their daily routines.
Ge**er Foundational works with first-generation entrepreneurs. As they were developing a new offering for smaller businesses, we wanted to develop some pieces that spoke to the business owner who strived for exponential growth.
Thinking of our audience (the first-generation entrepreneur), we didn't think a pen or notebook would stand out enough so we added another item that the young entrepreneur might need on their journey of growth; bookmarks.
Thanks to our friends at Griffen Hollow Studio these bookmarks were cut out of wood veneer with a quote from the owner to highlight the personalized and authentic approach that Ge**er takes in working with their clients. They were a great piece to hand out at events and to grab at a coffee shop.
What's your experience with promotional products? Have you found a benefit in handing them out at trade shows, networking events, and/or strategically placed around your local markets?

I met at over a decade ago on National Tequila Day. My brother took me there as I was just starting to grow my business and Randy immediately became a friend. After the mezcal wore off he took me to Andyman’s Tree Bar and had grand ideas of cutting a slab off the tree (which he did) and I made a ton of tap handles, keychains and many other products to help raise money for Andyman-a-thon. Over the years Randy included me in many conversations with the “shakers and movers” around town and I whole heartily believe he was behind a chunk of my growth through his generous networking.
I could probably write a book about this man and the experiences I’ve shared with him. Weaving in and out of each others lives but always there.
When he decided to build the he called me for help and advice. Looking back… what an honor. Randy is actually a phenomenal craftsman on so many levels… building, events, relationships, communities and so much more…
Over the years I have been making some of the top awards for our city… pictured are some of those accolades I’ve made via other organizations that have been bestowed to CD929fm team.
There’s always more to the story but I’ll end with a big ass “THANK YOU!” To the station, the employees, the interns, the community and Randy.
You can still listen to the best radio there ever is… https://cd929fm.com/ to stream today.

My story started over a decade ago. The characters that helped me along the way will always live rent free in my heart. They struggled with me and the lack of direction but always put in quality work. GHS has a new life and settled on direction. Quality transformational craftsmanship. Awards, promotional products and all from sustainably sourced materials.

Happy Holidays from the Griffen Hollow family.
I can remember growing up in my Papaw’s shop down in the holler at Griffen Hollow Hardwoods. Tinkering with scrap wood and some tools about the age my girls are now if not younger. I am tuning up the tools, waiting on replacement parts and prepping materials while they mess around. Fills my soul to see their creativity.
Now that the new 3D printer is added to my line up I am offering a wider arrange of details for awards These awards for Thrive are made from PLA filament, historic Ohio Stadium redwood bleachers and sustainably harvested walnut from Griffen Hollow Hardwoods.
