Mark your calendar: CVSA's Brake Safety Week slated for Aug. 25-31 For this year’s Brake Safety Week, inspectors will focus on the condition of brake linings and pads. Brake lining and pad issues may result in vehicle violations and could affect a motor carrier’s safety rating.

This week we had several of our Outside Parts Sales professionals from our Barkeyville, Youngstown and Columbus Dealerships attending a “Train to Sell” two-day event presented by Daimler Truck North America in Cambridge, Ohio. This training is presented by several manufacturers including Meritor, Bendix, Hendrickson, Delco Remy, Odyssey, Rockwell, Cummins, Detroit, Daimler, Fleetguard and Monroe. The attendees also were treated to tours of both Plants 1 & 2 of Detroit Diesel’s Reman Facility and Core Processing Center.

NEW SCAM ALERT: FMCSA is aware of a phishing fake email being sent to carriers. This email, pretending to come from FMCSA, asks carriers to complete an attached form. In some cases, the email asks carriers to upload a copy of a certificate of insurance and Driver’s License to protect against fraud. The altered form requires a customer to provide their Social Security Number and USDOT Personal Identification Number.
Remember:
✅ FMCSA would not request this information on a form.
✅ Communications from FMCSA relating to information requests of this type would either request you to log in to your portal account or come directly from an FMCSA dedicated mailbox.
✅ Communications from FMCSA would come from an official FMCSA email address, NOT [email protected] or [email protected].
✅ Verify any email or communication you feel to be suspicious with FMCSA or the appropriate agency.

Operation Safe Driver Week is now underway! Stay safe on the roads.

Operation Safe Driver Week starts this Sunday, July 7, through July 13. Law enforcement personnel in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. will be on the lookout for commercial motor vehicle drivers and passenger vehicle drivers engaging in unsafe driving behaviors, such as speeding, distracted driving, following too closely, drunk or drugged driving, etc. Drivers engaging in such behaviors will be pulled over by law enforcement and may be issued a warning or citation. https://www.cvsa.org/news/2024-osd-week/

Last night we hosted our third and final free Spring/Summer training event and dinner with about 35 participants. A special thanks to Tim Yant from ConMet for presenting this service training for us! We held a raffle drawing for those who attended all three trainings – and want to say a big thank you to all of the participants who made these training sessions successful.

Special thanks to Parts Sales Specialist Justin Golden for stepping up and going last Friday in downtown Columbus to help benefit Gracehaven in their efforts to assist children who have been rescued from s*x trafficking. Justin rappelled 26 stories (357 feet) from the top of the Chase Tower for this incredibly worthy cause! Also, another special thanks to TAT Nonprofit for your presence and for your efforts to educate folks on how to identify and help those who have been trafficked.

We were happy to sponsor TAT Nonprofit last Friday for the Going Over the Edge to End Child S*x Trafficking fundraising event to benefit Gracehaven! This was an amazing event to help raise awareness about the realities of child s*x trafficking and how we can help put an end to it.
