Know Food Waste OSU
A group of students at Ohio State working towards reducing and repurposing and educating about #foodwaste on campus
To wrap up the year, we hosted a tie dye with compost event! We made natural dyes with food scraps, like red cabbage and spinach and were able to reach out to a wide range of students about creative ways to reuse food waste. It was a blast and we ended up with some great up-cycled clothing!
Summer is the perfect time for sustainable diy projects! Let us know if you have tried or know of any unique ways to reuse food waste. 🌿
Exciting event coming up!! Join us in celebrating Earth Day on April 21st and learn how to tie dye 🌈 with compost!
Our next seminar will be with Jane Boehm and Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO). Jane is the Food Waste Programs Administrator at SWACO, and she plans to share some insight on understanding food waste in our very own Franklin County.
There will be food! Mark your calendar now!

While cooking for thanksgiving a lot of food waste is produced that can often be missed. A lot of the times this waste is things that we didn’t even think we could eat! My family and I like to take leftover potato peel (something we used to throw away) and turn them into yummy potato skin chips! Even though this may not seem like a big difference, it is still diverting waste from being put in the landfill 😁 - Aria Crawford
