How truck drivers can improve fuel efficiency 04/05/2024

Fuel Efficiency: Tips for Truck Drivers

In the realm of transportation, fuel efficiency isn't just a cost-saving measure; it's a game-changer for fleet operations. According to American Truck Business Service (ATBS), a mere 1 mpg improvement in fuel economy can translate to over $10,000 in annual savings per truck.

That's a significant impact that underscores the importance of optimizing fuel usage at every level.

From fleet managers to individual drivers, there are many strategies to enhance fuel efficiency. ATBS recently outlined the top 25 tips for drivers to achieve this goal, emphasizing the pivotal role driver behavior plays in overall fuel economy.

Simple adjustments, like maintaining a steady speed with cruise control or regularly checking tire pressure, can yield substantial gains in miles per gallon.

This Women's History Month, we're celebrating the driving forces behind the wheel!

Throughout history, women have played a vital role in shaping the transportation industry, pioneering innovations and advocating for safety. As we move business forward, let's reflect on the legacy of trailblazers.

In the mid-19th century, two remarkable women, Mary Coston and Mary Walton, left their mark on transportation innovation. Mary Coston's pioneering work in 1859 saw the development of a revolutionary maritime navigation system using pyrotechnics, aiding the U.S. Navy and European navies in communication and rescue operations.

Meanwhile, Mary Walton's groundbreaking invention in 1879 focused on reducing locomotive emissions, addressing concerns about air quality. Her system for smokestacks not only improved environmental conditions but also paved the way for advancements in locomotive technology.

Their contributions not only transformed transportation safety and efficiency but also exemplified the ingenuity and determination of women in shaping the future of the industry.

03/22/2024

During Women's History Month, we commemorate Lillie Elizabeth Drennan, the first licensed female truck driver and trucking-firm owner in the United States. Born in 1897, Drennan's story is one of overcoming adversity and reshaping industry norms.

In 1929, Drennan ventured into the male-dominated world of trucking. She obtained her commercial truck driver's license, challenging gender biases and advocating for women's inclusion in the industry.

Drennan's entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish the Drennan Truck Line, where she navigated challenges and built a reputation for safety and reliability. Her remarkable journey serves as a testament to the resilience and determination of women in the workforce.
