From our friends at the City of Columbus:
Good afternoon neighbors,
“All 23 of CML's locations are open to the public for cooling during their normal hours this week, and the Main, Driving Park, Hilltop and Northern Lights branches have extended hours for cooling, according to a CML press release. These four branches will stay open until 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday instead of their normal 6 p.m. close, and they'll be open on Juneteenth from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. while the other library locations are closed for the holiday.
Starting on June 19, five of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department's community centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. until the heat wave subsides, according to a press release. These five locations are: Dodge Community Center, Driving Park Community Center, Glenwood Community Center, Linden Community Center and Marion Franklin Community Center.
Additionally, the city's public pools and "spraygrounds" will have extended hours during the heat dome. Starting June 19, all of the city's pools will be open 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. and the $1 admission fee will be waived until the heat goes away. The city's "spraygrounds" will be open 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. during the same period.”

Columbus Public Health offered a few tips to beat the heat in the parks and recreation press release. They are:
Drink plenty of water. Do not wait until you are thirsty.
Stay in air conditioning whenever possible. If you do not have an air conditioner, use movie theatres, malls, libraries and other public places that are cool.
Avoid beverages with alcohol, caffeine and sugar because they will dehydrate you.
Eat light meals.
Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
Avoid strenuous activities, and limit them to morning and evening hours.
Learn the signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses and how to treat them.
Check on family members, friends and neighbors.
Never leave people or pets in a closed car.
Community cooling centers open in Columbus as extreme heat wave hits A heat dome has settled over Columbus, and a number of community cooling centers have opened their doors to beat the heat.

🎉 8th grade promotion ceremony highlights: 8th grade Orchestra 🎻 students playing for the last time as middle schoolers.
🎉 Yesterday we had the honor of promoting our 8th grade class. While we will miss this group of young people, we are honored to have played a part in their educational experience. We can’t wait to see how much they grow and blossom in high school!
We heard inspiring speeches, listened to performances by our 8th grade choir and orchestra students, and ended with a photo montage.
In the next few days we will share performances videos from the event.
This is how we PBIS at Dominion! Students are prepared, respectful, have integrity, are determined and are educated! These students also have passing grades.
Thank you to our PTSO and wonderful staff for giving our students a super fun ending to a great school year!

Such a beautiful tribute to the courageous passengers of Flight 93.
Happy birthday Alie!
More pics from today's shenanigans in DC!
The war memorials in DC are always a favorite and a chilling reminder of the sacrifices made for our freedom. Especially poigniant, is finding the names of the young men who once roamed the very halls we walk today as students at North High School. Thank you to all the men and women who paid the ultimate price so that we may live in peace with rights and opportunities unlike any other nation in the world. Freedom isn't free.
Kids are moving fast again this morning after a good night’s sleep, and some breakfast. Finishing Mount Vernon and heading to Hard Rock Cafe for lunch! After lunch, we head to the American history, Museum, and the Museum of African-American history. Tonight is the fan favorite memorial walking tour at night where we stopped to take name, etchings at the Vietnam memorial and then end up at Lincoln Memorial to finish day 2. Going to be a long fun day!
The kids are enjoying Mt. Vernon, the historic home George Washington. Among other aspects of the visit, students will learn about the pivotal role enslaved people played in the operation and maintenance of the plantation. This educational tour will provide the insights into the lives and contributions of the more than 300 and slaved individuals who worked at Mount Vernon, offering a deeper understanding of the complexities of American history.
After a long day of travel and a bus breakdown, the teachers and tour company decided to pivot and rearrange a few items on the itinerary. The students visited Pentagon City Hall, as well as the White House for a photo op! They made a quick stop to buy some souvenirs on the way back to the hotel. After a long day, the Cubs were tired!
So yesterday was an eventful day for DC Trip Bus 2 and they handled it like troopers, in true Dominion fashion! From Mrs. Noble.....Sending two pics: 1 - when the bus first broke down. 2 - 2 hours into the breakdown, not long before we got moving again. On a personal note, we were joking that the mechanic had Dominion PRIDE *and* grit 😂. The man was *not* giving up on the fix! THANK YOU TO THAT AWESOME MECHANIC!
Everyone made it safely! White House at night then back to the hotel for some rest and back at it tomorrow. Sleep tight Polar Bears!
