Adrenaline Fix Karting

The annual KRA night race weekend is a lot of work but it is also a lot of fun. About to start practicing under the lights.

Our Junior program has developed nicely the past few years, going from none in 2021 to putting seven on the track in KRA 11. Under direct tutalage of AFK coaches Jacob Peddycord and Tyler Prestel these boys and girls are learning not only how to be fast drivers but fair and respectful racers that will follow them through a lifetime of motorsports participation.

Jacob Peddycord put his Magik Kart/BBS Race Engine kart on KA Senior pole again for KRA 10. After getting sidepodded off at turn two returning to the track about 15th, Jacob then did what Jacob does - drove through the field to finish 3rd.

He did the same thing subbing for the ill Mal Smith in KRA 9 206 Sportsman. Starting last, he picked off 8 positions in 12 laps, earning valuable championship points for Mal.

Steven Armstrong continued his perfect season with KA Masters wins in both KRA 9 and 10 over the weekend. So far this season he has won every round he's entered with his BBS Race Engine -powered, AFK-prepped Tony Kart.

When you have 19 drivers racing in 47 (yes, 47) races in one day, you got to have kickass crew.

These are ours. Couldn't do any of this without them.

Shortly after practice started today one of our drivers had a medical emergency on the grid while waiting for his group to go on track. Before I was even fully aware of the situation every NCMP staff member had converged on the scene. Drivers and crew with first responder or medical experience were administering first aid while an EMT squad was on it's way. There was never any doubt that the situation was being managed in the best possible way, leading to the positive outcome. My personal and sincerest thanks to everyone that had even the smallest role in this. And it's another reason for me to be so proud to call this place our home track.

It was a privilege to wrench for the great AJ Myers at the SKUSA SummerNationals and again be a member of the Magik Kart USA squad competing against some of the best shifter kart drivers in the world. Amazing what the little team from Girard, Ohio can do against the mega teams. And congrats to Annie Rhule and her mechanic Connor Hayes for their 12th place finish in the 35 kart Pro Shifter field.

Yeah, our social media has sucked the last month or so but we should get it ramped back up and catch up on results posts soon. Just too many other priorities for a small team business.

KRA 3 didn't reward our team with the results we were working for. You'll have that. We still had tons of fun.

Enjoy working with race data?

We're looking for a data analyst for Saturdays (11am to 6pm) on KRA race weekends at New Castle Motorsports Park. You needn't be an experienced pro but if you can interpret and communicate on-track data to others let's talk.

Primarily work with Mychron 5 data but a familiarity with Alfano system is a plus. You'll be helping tuners and drivers using our equipment in an air conditioned environment. Pay at the end of the weekend via Venmo or check. Rate based on experience/expertise.

1 pole, 2 wins, 4 podiums to start the 2024 season. In all, AFK supported 17 drivers in 25 classes at KRA 1 thanks to an awesome crew. Here are the result highlights.

Yeah, the track is still hot but after 11.5 hrs, 19,537 steps, 55 lbs added to various karts and mounting 32 SH2s, I'm pulling a Csaba. IYKYK.
