Families, I’m starting to see more and more RIP’s on my timeline. Did you know that I can offer affordable mortuary services and burial needs?

Families please stop using GoFundMe for life insurance. Sometimes it might be the way to go, but why not have a plan established before that day comes.

I will be hosting a (informational only) seminar in Oct. where I will have professional speakers to talk about plan for death, we plan for everything else: buying a house, buy a car, taking a girls trip, somebody prom or graduation, baby showers and wedding, but what is the plan is you or a family member dies?

My guest speakers will talk about:
* Language in a policy
* Types of policy
* Wills and trust
* Financial solutions for preparation
* Writing your own obituary (We all know that it is some people in heaven complaining about how Aunt Ester would could barely remember wrote their final words)
* Things to expect when making final arrangements with a mortuary and cemetery.

Again this opportunity is Free, it’s informational only, we’re not soliciting services, but I want my community to know that options are available.

Refreshments will be available. Hope to see you soon, if you would like to participate please comment below and I will kindly forward scheldue date and time.

Greeting,

Due to the recent destruction left by the continued storms from 12/22 - 2/23, Woodlawn received a lot of property damage from the rain water. Woodlawn is an 153 year old cemetery and prior to ownership change in 2021 over the year’s maintenance was not timely if at all, most of the burials are 90 years and older.

Please keep in mind that older burial were either wrap in cloth, wooden caskets or cardboard structures, no burial vaults were required, as time has pass those containers and context no longer exist causing a gap in the grounds over time. Unfortunately the current events of continued rain caused facilities unusable, sinkage and unsafe cracking within the property grounds.

Woodlawn was sued in early 2000, and cemetery was under the state for control, a judgment was order and a settlement was reached and families were paid $650.00, which in the case of most of the burials was almost twice the amount they initially paid. It was also ordered by the courts for that company “Evergreen” to forfeit all contracts leaving the cemetery defunct.

Woodlawn does not have a date for reopening, but we’re anticipating a late July opening, we are diligently trying to fix all the issues as soon as we can, given the lack of family, community or entity participation. Please contact us regularly for upcoming updates.

Woodlawn is now 100% privately owned, people volunteer their time and financial support to keep Woodlawn active. Woodlawn respects that family will like to visit, but we also encourage families to participate in volunteering and donations to help keep Woodlawn surviving.

If you will like to sign up to volunteer or donate your help could expedite the opening back to the property sooner than later, all help is needed. Please call 310-933-8850 during business hours of 11am - 3pm M,W,F,Sa.

For those that want to contact the Cemetery and Funeral Bureau here is their number as well 916-574-7870, they will also inform you that Woodlawn is private property NOT regulated under the State of California.

As Always, Restoring Dignity and Respect One Section At A Time.

Sincerely,
Woodlawn Celestial Gardens

Hello Families,

Here’s a friendly update concerning Woodlawn Celestial Gardens, well our staff has been working on the rapid overgrowth caused by our recent storms that hit California within the last few weeks.

WCG has contained majority of the overgrown this week alone, we were able to mow a large piece of our parcel, in-which, now Families can visited without the additional greenery. Please be patient while we continue to mow other areas of the property, we asked that visitations in overgrowth areas are limited.

In always, please be aware that WCG is Not regulated under the State of California Cemetery and Funeral Bureau, it’s is Now recognized as “Private Property”, and when change of ownership/ name change WCG did NOT adopt any of the pass contracts, legal responsibilities, agreements or verbal commitments made or paid to another company, organization or owners. WCG was purchased as is with no outstanding legal obligations. Please be mindful that

WCG is NOT funded by any Federal, State or City. Funds used to care, preserve, operate, and staff is from personal income.

Volunteers are always welcome to help cure our current’s overgrowth at WCG on: M, W, F, and Sat. From 11am - 3pm.

Below is a chart of this weeks progress, and areas that are yet to be maintained. If at any time you have any concerns feel free to stop by our office or call (310)933-8850 durning business hours.

As always Woodlawn Celestial Gardens is a place of peace, and respect, make sure you bring yours during visits. In parting we will like to remind everyone that WCG is always needing volunteers and donations. CONTACT USBtoday and we can inform you our desired area of needs for assistance.

Last night, Wednesday, May 26, Compton’s oldest cemetery, Woodlawn Celestial Gardens was vandalized.

It is disappointing individual(s) with no honor and no respect for family and friends buried at Woodlawn deliberately graffiti the cemetery.

We have worked hard to prepare Woodlawn to honor the 56 local veterans who died serving our country, at the 2022 Memorial Day Observance, Monday, May 30. Now, because of the thoughtlessness of someone, families and guests will be greeted by an embarrassing display of graffiti.

We will do our best to remove the graffiti prior to the Memorial Day Observance so these disparaging images will not be broadcast and diminish our community. No picture of the graffiti is posted to avoid giving it any airtime.
