Project Frank's Electrical & Handyman Service
Licensed electrician with maintenance, remodel, and finish carpentry skills.
A break from the many typical jobs lately was this laundry room. Per their decorator's plans: replaced a mud sink, installed some upper cabinets, and gave a wall a faux 'batten' look... with a hook or two.
A bit of cosmetic work and a change of the hinge situation has enlivened this family heirlom. (Belonged to the grandmother of a 90+ y.o. client.) I love the simplicity and ingenuity of the leg locks.
I really enjoy doing panel changes. Stressful, but so satisfying to organize a rats nest of wires.
Custom-built gate. A first for me and a fun challenge, especially chipping away that stone for plumb hinges. With two coats of paint over two coats of primer on a cypress frame secured to batten siding, it'll never sag.
Used some 1-1/2" PVC I had stowed away and scrap wood to make another sign for Ruby from / . Softened the PVC in boiling water (a long time at the stove!) and reshaped with a few quick-made jigs. Added a PVC square border. This was pretty neat to do.
This was a fun project! A sign for the maker of the best candles I've ever smelled,
My first time messing with linoleum. (Correne found a German who can print whatever pattern you like: Sparrow Floor on Etsy.) It was more challenging than I thought it would be, but came out perfect I don't mind saying.
Screened-in a porch for someone new to the Summers Walk neighborhood. (Tilted top frames are on purpose, btw.)
Found a broken chair on the store's porch! I kept the new piece thicker, which meant I had to seat from the from to get it on the same plane as the other rails. Could've used another putty session, but the boss said paint it and forget it.
Thank you to friends for recommending me to others! If you have been referred to this page, please call so we can discuss your project. I only occasionally maintain this page for portfolio and contact purposes. Thank you.
Turned the space above this garage to a very large storage area. Used scrap as safety rails.
Finished up (my part of) this attic job yesterday, complete with custom built-in sewing desk and a hide-a-door. I did everything except paint and HVAC.
Whole-house filter upgrade.
Laundry closet shelving and folding table.
This customer had a sinking toilet! The floor joist was cut for the septic line, and later someone propped up a terrible support. A couple bottle jack's and I installed new decking and joists from underneath to save the floor tile and baseboards above. Toilet was replaced and all back to normal.
Finishing a small room. Moved entry door, added framing for symmetry with some hobbit doors into storage, electrified and insulated. Thankfully, the drywall and painting is being done by others! I'll be back next week for finish trim, building doors, and flooring.
Installed a mini-split recently (except for the outer copper connections, required by code to have a mechanical license). I was impressed by its wall mount; simple and sturdy.
I had a fun day of trim work in Huntersville. Removed the rubber toe kicks under the cabinets and added baseboard, too, but forgot pics. Ready for their painter; can't wait to see it finished.
Service changeover in Concord last week. Used old fuse boxes as junctions for new feeds and installed a 200A panel with jacuzzzi run and plans for a pool. I had to build a trough in the storage room so I could get the feeders into the attic. To my amazement, arc faults held and no troubleshooting was required. This was a great job and I got my exercise digging that damn trench! While I could've gone just 6" with THWN in RMC, I like deep runs when families (& roots) are afoot.
Wine racks installed.
Before & After: Built-ins for a customer's living room (that he is going to paint himself).
B&A: Little brick pad and step for a less muddy hiding spot for refuse bins. This was a fun little project.

Shorts are common in pipes that run under slabs and through tree root territory. Here, a garage feed (with 4-way switch in house, hence all the wires) was throwing the breaker, most likely due to water over busted lines in the ground, requiring a new power line to the garage. I always take the grass up like sod to save the yard. Hopefully in a month it'll be like I was never there (except the garage doors and lights work now).
Old plaster ceiling lost a fight with a tree branch. It's better now. (And yes, she's repainting everything.)
Before/after: Two lights instead of one and a little decor nook.
Don't want a whole-house generator? An interlock kit and generator feeder plug to run essentials is a half day's work.
