I love seeing my pieces in customer homes!
This was the perfect place for this mirror, and I’m thrilled she is so happy with it!
Thanks for driving almost 2.5 hours round trip to purchase it, Pamela! You rock!
My heart is happy 💛
I haven’t had the time (or energy in this extreme heat 🥵) to work on much, but this pretty lady sold today!
Thank you Pamela!
Another benefit of properly priming….
Seeing all the nicks and dings you missed filling in when prepping your piece!
Now, I’m all about leaving some small nicks that indicate a very vintage vibe depending on the style that I’m going for on a piece, but these oversized king-size nightstands, are going to have a smooth finish. Usually there are very noticeable indentations, and those are easy enough to deal with, but it’s often difficult to see or feel very noticeable ones.
So, fill them in, and then once again sand, clean, and then another coat of primer before painting.
Now, to choose a color 🤔
Gotta start em young!
Luck of the Irish today ☘️ (even though I’m not Irish AT ALL) haha
This girl was delivered to her new home and it looks amazing in its new spot. What a sweet couple. I’m glad they have a piece of Restored Hope ☺️
Up next!
This buffet is in fantastic shape structurally, but needs a lot of help with veneer issues and scratches / dents / dings / holes / etc. There are many area where it looks as though someone tried to “repair” the veneer, but it was glued on slanted and doesn’t really fit.
The inside platforms of the cabinets will all need to be replaced as they are sagging.
I have an idea of what I want to do, but not 100% on a color choice yet.
Any ideas on colors? Much of it will remain wood.
Large Farmhouse Mirror
❤️ Love ❤️
That is what I feel for this HUGE mirror! 😍 So, how appropriate to post it today!
I have been hemming and hawing over here because I desperately want to keep it…but I have nowhere to place it 😭😭 At 51”W x 42”H, she is super solid and incredibly heavy for any of my spaces!
So, here she is!
I had a completely different idea in my head with this one. LIKE……completely!
But, after removing the dated design at the top, I saw how pretty the wood was and decided to strip the entire thing and bring a warmth back to this mirror that it didn’t have before.
If I do say so myself, I think that dream was realized and I’m SUPER happy with it.
This was stained with Minwax in Driftwood, and I’m pretty sure it has become my new fave stain color.
I also banged it up with a hammer, nails, and screws to give it some character (it was way too perfect after sanding it down), and applied black wax to those indentations giving it a lot of depth.
This would be perfect over a mantle, a bathroom vanity, dresser, King size Bed, or entryway table. Honestly, anywhere!
The list price is $425, but for my Restored Hope followers ONLY, a 14% discount will be offered beginning now until the 18th in celebration of Valentine’s Day! 💘
I hope you enjoy the day!
Well.
This wasn’t what I had originally intended in my mind 🧠 for this piece, but here we go! ✅
I need to head to the store 🏬 to get some stain, but man, the difference is 😳.
I removed the dated design at the top, and then spent 4️⃣ hours sanding it all down 😩😵💫
QUESTION:
If this was for you, how would you stain?! What would make it pop?
My first mirror set I have done in quite some time. This finish is usually popular, so, I went with it :)
Measurements: 19.5” width x 48” height
$399 for the set. $225 if purchasing just one. Cash preferred, but Venmo accepted.
***Other sets are available to be painted to your desired finish***
The things you find when pulling apart furniture hahaha
As Bob Ross would say, this crackling is a “Happy Accident”!
I am very honored to announce that I will be selling some of my pieces from Southern Notions in downtown Mooresville!
If you haven’t visited this store….ohmygosh. When you walk through the front door, it’s like opening up a magazine to find incredible beauty that feels so welcoming….like you are home.
Thank you Stephanie for giving me this opportunity! 🙂 I’m very humbled, and very grateful!
I have been thinking a lot lately about how long it had been since I completed and sold a piece (almost 3 years). I have been working on this one for about a year and a half doing a little here and a little there. It’s not exactly easy with a little man running around, so, I have been tinkering in small windows.
Over the last month, it became my mission to finish this, with the goal of doing so by Evelyn’s 6th birthday, which would have been today. I’m honestly shocked that it’s done, but pleased to be able to say that.
So, this one is for my Evie, in her honor. Priced as her birthdate only for my followers at $831.
Happy birthday little love 💓
Description:
This solid buffet has more than ample space to help you usher in the approaching holidays, and for generations to come.
Much care was taken to choose earthy tones that will complement an array of styles.
The exterior was painted in Hurricane Gray (a deep charcoal), and then sealed in Wise Owl varnish in Matte to ensure a long lasting finish.
The interior was painted Driftwood (a soft gray). Wallpaper was lined on the backing, and also included inside both drawers to give additional character to validate this piece as a specialty item. In both cabinet spaces, the shelving is adjustable to 3 different levels, allowing you the flexibility to store items at different heights.
The top was painted in numerous layers to replicate a driftwood finish.
The entirety of the piece was sealed in several coats of Wise Owl Varnish in Matte.
All hardware is brand new.

Piece #3 for J’s room
Last is this Lane cedar chest. I got this off Facebook marketplace and it was the perfect size I needed! Major score!
This thing was definitely in rough shape aesthetically. My plan was to remove all the veneer on top and sand and stain it and then paint the bottom. Well, I definitely got thrown for a loop on this one bc when I started pulling the veneer off, it wasn’t wood underneath, but wood chips! I had never seen this before and actually had to post on a furniture refurbishers site to try to understand what I was seeing. Apparently, Lane did this in the 80s I think they said, to try and save money by not using wood. It was something along those lines 🥴
So, everything I had removed had to be all Bondo’d back together, sanded back, and then I decided to paint it a dark brown instead. Not super ideal when you’re 35 weeks pregnant 🤦🏻♀️🤰🏻
So, moving on, I painted the bottom in Dixie Belle “palmetto.”I really love this rich emerald green!
I removed the hardware and soaked it in my water and vinegar mixture and polished them up!
I really wanted to add feet to the bottom but the top would not have cleared the shelving had I done so.
Not bad for 35 weeks pregnant with what would be an almost 11 lb baby, eh?! 🤣
Piece #2 for J’s room 💙
Just like the first, this piece is also very special to me. My dear aunt Carol gave it to me quite a few years ago. I actually had it in Evelyn’s room. I had not done much to it except for remove all of the slats inside as it is actually a side table that holds records.
After we lost Evelyn, I put it away in storage and haven’t thought much about it. I decided to use this piece in Jonah‘s room but do some work to it.
I started by stripping all the veneer off the top using a very wet towel and an iron. More on this another time.
I then sanded and stained that pretty wood that was being hidden. In hindsight, I should have used a little more of a cherry hue, but I like it all the same 😉
I then did a ton of gluing on the body of the piece, as the veneer was peeling off everywhere. A light sanding all over the body, and then sprayed shellac over those areas.
The hardware was soaked in a mix of water and vinegar and polished with some baking soda and vinegar. I love how the hardware came out! 🥰
The inside had a bit of a musty smell to it so then I used Dixie Belle’s Big Mamas Butter in Orange Grove to make it smell nice and fresh.
This is the perfect size piece I wanted next to the rocker and I am quite pleased with the result 🥳
Piece #1 done for J’s room
This piece was very special to me because it was given to me by dear friends from church. Her parents used it for their children and I think of them all the time whenever I rock J in his chair and look at it across the room. I very much treasure it 🥰
Over all, this dresser was in really decent shape and is heaaaaavy.
What’s funny is I was going in a completely different direction and then half way through my work, absolutely hated it haha soooo I sanded it all back and started again 😫
The end result is painted in Dixie Belle’s “Fluff”, which is a soft white with hint of gray, sealed in satin topcoat, and I threw a bunch of saw dust in the lines to age it a bit, followed by distressing it. I also changed the hardware and spray painted the new pulls.
Another fun fact about this piece was that I was painting it a very dark brown when my elbow hit the paint container and the paint splashed everywhere. When I say everywhere, I mean eeeeeeeverywhere. That pic is included at the end. Good ol’ Dawn to the rescue! 🥴
The changing table pad box I just got at Target, and it works great to keep the pad secure. I debated painting it and then decided I was too pregnant 🤰🏻 to do anything else 🤣
The coziest place in our house (IMHO) 😍
I really enjoyed decorating and refurbishing several pieces for our son’s 👶🏻💙 room. I can’t believe he will be 6 months old TOMORROW! 😭😭
I’m realizing I never showed the final product 🤦🏻♀️, so, over the next week, I’ll be showing the before and afters of the pieces I both painted and restored for this special little boy.
Stay tuned!
You guys….this little man has had me super busy for the past 4 months! I’m not sure how he is 4 months old already!?!? 😭
I am itching to paint sooooo badly though! I walk into my painting room every day and just stare at everything that is prepped and ready to go. Salivating. Dreaming. 😍
Hoping for a comeback soon. Stay tuned!
Going radio silent for a bit with baby boy coming tomorrow!!
I’m not sure when I will be back to painting, but know that I have been missing it these past few months, and I’m itching to begin again in the near future.
Thank you to all who have supported me through this process and for the way so many of you have prayed for us. It means the world to us!
💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
Final touches on baby boy’s dresser! Spray painting the hardware 🎨
Alright guys...2/2 is complete and ready to go home 😊
