Conway Springs Fire Department
Always call 911 if there's an emergency. This page is not designed to handle requests for assistance.
Tonight's training was refreshing on how to blindly follow a hose to figure out which way means out (in the event a firefighter gets lost), buddy breathing (using your air pack to support yourself and a buddy, whose air pack failed or is out of air) , and firefighter drags. We hope we never need these skills, but that doesn't mean we don't need refresher courses on them!
CSFD did a joint training doing a live burn, with one of our mutual aid partners Sumner County Fire 9 last night. These trainings not only give us a controlled environment to train in, allow us to put firefighters on different assignments they haven't done before, but also give us the chance to learn how to effectively work with another department! Huge thank you to Conway Springs EMS for being there and helping keep all our firefighters safe. Them documenting vitals through rehab helps them to know how our bodies "normally" act in these conditions. This will help them compare our vitals in the future to better diagnose, if something is wrong during a call.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and family of Firefighter/ Paramedic Greg Rausch.
Gregory Rausch Obituary
๐ฅ In 1962 United States Congress 1st passed public law 87-726 designating May 15th as Peace Officers Memorial Day, honoring federal, state, or local officers who have been killed or disabled in the line of duty.
โป๏ธ Over the years devoted law officers have courageously sacrificed their personal safety while working on behalf of the people. Because of their steadfast efforts to enforce our laws, we as citizens, can enjoy a system of peace and order.
๐ฆ The amount of courage and bravery that our federal, state, and local law enforcement officers show is astronomical. So, during this week of honoring take the time to thank not only our local Conway Springs Police Officers, but all officers who day after day lace up those boots and make that choice to help bring order and safety where they can. These men and women are our warriors in the battle against crime and are dedicated to the preservation of life and property.
๐ฅ We at CSFD would like to honor the valor, services, and dedication of the fallen and support our officers who continue to keep us safe. Conway Springs Police Department not only today, but every day, we stand with you.
โป๏ธ โNo one has greater love than this, that someone would lay down his life for his friends.โ John 15:3

CSFD is EXTREMELY GRATEFUL for this opportunity provided to us from Anheuser- Busch!
Anheuser-Busch has a longstanding tradition of providing emergency drinking water and supplies for disaster relief efforts. Every year, Anheuser-Busch periodically pauses beer production to can emergency drinking water to be ready to lend a helping hand during natural disasters and other crises. Building on this commitment, the brewer teamed up with the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) in 2019 to create the Emergency Drinking Water for Wildland Firefighters program.
Keeping firefighters hydrated during long incidents or disasters such as wildfires is a critical need for fire departments, yet many volunteer departments struggle with limited budget and resources. To help departments meet this need, Anheuser-Busch is continuing its commitment and will donate 2.5 million cans of clean drinking water in 2023 to help keep our wildfire responders hydrated as they protect and strengthen our communities. Since the program began, over nine million cans of water have been distributed to more than 2,500 departments across nearly all 50 states. That amount of water equals over one million dollars in cost savings for local departments.
Don't forget if you changed your clocks this week , to change your smoke detector batteries also! SMOKE DETECTORS SAVE LIVES!
Our thoughts and prayers go out to our brothers and sisters with Arkansas City, KS Fire/EMS Department with the passing of Chief Wolfe.
It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Chief Bobby Wolfe. Chief Wolfe led the Arkansas City, KS Fire/EMS Department from 2012 to 2020 and left a lasting impression on many. Rest easy Chief, we will take it from here.

Today, as we come together to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001, our hearts are heavy with the weight of the loss our nation endured that day. We solemnly reflect on the 22nd anniversary of the attacks that forever changed our world.
On that fateful day, ๐ฐ๐ญ๐ฏ first responders made the ultimate sacrifice, rushing into danger to save lives. Among them were ๐ฏ๐ฐ๐ฏ firefighters, ๐ฒ๐ฌ police officers, and ๐ญ๐ฏ emergency medical service (EMS) providers. These selfless men and women ran towards the chaos and uncertainty, knowing the risks, but driven by a profound dedication to protect and serve.
Their bravery and heroism are etched into our hearts and minds, a testament to the unwavering spirit of those who put their lives on the line for the safety of others. Today, we bow our heads in honor of these courageous souls who gave their all.
Furthermore, on this day in 2001, ๐ฎ,๐ต๐ณ๐ณ innocent civilians lost their lives in a tragic act of terrorism, carried out by 19 terrorists who also met their end.
But let us also remember the countless responders and civilians who have faced long-lasting health challenges and lost their lives due to the lingering effects of that tragic day. Their resilience, determination, and sacrifice in the face of adversity inspire us all.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to all first responders and the families who support them every day. Your dedication is unwavering, and your sacrifices do not go unnoticed.
Today, let us stand united, not just in grief, but in our commitment to never forget, as we all vowed we would, the bravery and sacrifices of those who rushed to aid their fellow Americans on 11 September 2001. Together, we honor their memory and pledge to continue to serve and protect our communities with the same unwavering dedication, never knowing what fate lies ahead.
