Always nice to have a visit from my beekeeper buddy Andy, hooked him up with some queens and strawberries and got to check out the new farm.
We had so much fun hosting the first grade class from Lincoln Elementary for their farm field trip last week!
We did a farm tour and learned about chickens and epazote, the kids got to try on bee suits and learn about queens and drones in an observation hive, and finally learn about both pollination and graphing through tasting and voting for their favorite honey. Pumpkin was the winner, these kids know what’s up!
Thanks to the , students at have been enjoying our strawberries and honeys for their Classroom Food Adventures this month. It was a treat to bring it full circle down at the farm, can’t wait for round two with the second graders this week!

Had a nice time touring students around the farm yesterday for ’s Organic Farming class from OSU, great group of folks!
I don’t usually mark queens but these ladies went into packages for Central Coast Bee Keepers Association. In my genetics I have a pretty high percentage of “tiger striped” queens that are often harder to spot so marking queens makes finding them a lot easier.
Have you ever driven past a blanket of white blossoms and smelled their sweetness in the air? That right there is meadowfoam and we pollinate a lot of it.
While this oilseed crop is grown for use in cosmetics, meadowfoam nectar produces a unique dark honey sought after by honey enthusiasts and mead makers around the world. Our best seller, Meadowfoam honey is almost like a maple syrup with a rich root beer and vanilla sweetness.
Bring a clean, dry jar to the Farmstand this Sunday 8am - 2pm to get both meadowfoam and blackberry honey in bulk at our Fill Your Jar event!
We will also have our full line of varietals available for sample and purchase, as well as fresh veg and eggs.

Finished up moving bees into Meadowfoam for pollination last night, unfortunately it was still a little too soft from the recent rain and I got the bee wagon stuck. But fortunately another beekeeper was close by also getting his last load in and was able to pull me out around midnight. Got a couple hours sleep and left at daylight to shake packages at Radke's Blueberries in Corvallis and Gibson Farms out in Siletz.
Come out this Sunday for bee packages if you pre-ordered, and we’ll have Meadowfoam and blackberry honey available in bulk, bring a clean dry jar and we’ll be here at the Farmstand 8-2 🍯
We’ve been busy catching queens and getting ready for bee package pick ups. It’s a tedious process catching out of full sized frame mating nucs, but our friend .k of Apicola Kiti Yuuma came down from Idaho and helped for the week.
Spring is an intense time of year for beekeepers, busy moving bees into meadowfoam pollination at night and getting package bees ready in the daylight. We’ve got the main round of packages done for and have a smaller round for Corvallis pickup this weekend.
Our friends over at make incredible dairy-free gelato with an outstanding vanilla that features our Meadowfoam honey.
Vanilla-skeptics, be prepared for big flavor— this is not a boring vanilla! This ice cream highlights the notes of root beer and vanilla that Meadowfoam is known for, absolutely a must try as the season starts heating up.
We appreciate the support of small local food businesses and hope you seek out Gatto Gelato and try all the fantastic flavors that Ryder and his team are producing!
Join us on Mother’s Day for our first Fill Your Jar event at the new farmstand! Bring your own jar to fill with Meadowfoam or Blackberry honey at a discounted rate.
We will also be offering a Honey Tasting of our full varietal selection, will have farm fresh eggs, strawberries, rhubarb, and other fresh product for sale, and we will be running Bee Package pick-ups for our local beekeeping community.
There are still Bee Packages available for pre-order! Head to our website at www.osohoneyfarm.com to reserve yours.
