Some disabilities are visible while some disabilities are less so. Developmental Disability Awareness Month it's an opportunity to check in with ourselves about how we model disability positivity in the circles we're in - at school, in workplaces, and in the community. It's an opportunity to challenge our own biases and what we assume about youth and adults with developmental disabilities including intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.
There's always room to learn more. Adults, Ophelia's Place offers training for people-serving professionals. Our "Creating a Disability Inclusive Workplace" and "Working with Girls on the Autism Spectrum" can help your organization or business strengthen its equity-focused work.
