Jake and Ruth Reedyk are true industry pioneers! Christian bookstores are disappearing yearly. This particular store in St. Joseph is now owned and operated by this amazing couple’s daughter. Lorraine has poured her heart and soul into this little store and has made a huge difference for Christ’s Kingdom in her community. Lots of changes have taken place in the store over the years. It’s now called Parable of St. Joseph and Hallmark Gold Crown. One of the creative ideas Lorraine implemented early on was to partner with P.G. Dunn. The company’s headquarters is in Dalton, Ohio. They specialize in wood art. She became a gallery and later would join their laser personalization program. You can walk into the store today and have the team create a wonderful gift that is personalized for whatever occasion. In the last five years, Lorraine joined forces with Hallmark to give the store a fighting chance in an ever challenging culture. She now offers a large collection of cards and gifts that has expanded her store experience for the guests coming in.

God calls us the be faithful for what He has given us. Jake and Ruth obeyed His call. They became missionaries to a small lake community in Michigan. Owning a Christian bookstore is truly a mission that takes courage and strength.

Today, Krista and I are truly blessed to have Lorraine Valk as our business mentor. Her counsel and wisdom has helped our stores survive through some of the darkest days in our country and culture.

May God continue to bless and provide for our stores. We pray that churches and ministries will continue to seek out our stores for their resources.
