How do you suppose we managed to go from a mono lid to a creased lid with just a lash lamination? Well the lift of course. It’s all in the lift

I recently had a client that was seeing me for the first time, second time in our salon. I noticed right away she had only booked her self for just a lash lamination. I asked her why she chose not to color her lashes. Her reason was it was not worth it, it didn’t hold the color. So immediately I knew it was because her lashes were almost without melanin. No wonder color was not holding. She needed a little help. So here comes our hero product the color GRAPHITE lash/brow tint mixed in with her dark brown. With just lifted lashes, the color only needs to be on for 5 minutes. But next time I would leave on the color for a total of 7-10 min for a bolder color. I couldn’t let her leave thinking color was never in the cards for her. Moral of the story, know your products and always make sure your clients leave happier than they ever expected. Who didn’t know graphite could be the answer to all your melanin-less lashes 😉

Let’s talk lash lift reversals. She walked in to our salon right after a lift from another salon. First thought is please make sure you are talking with your clients. Make them feel comfortable enough to talk to you about unsatisfied work. I always offer my clients a way to reach out to me if by any chance or for any reason they are not happy with their results. In this particular case the client was not sure what products was used on her. And that is a ok. In elleebana’s case both their one shot and pro fusion line can be used for the reversal. In her case it took 2 min for part one and almost 2 min for part two. Needles to say she left very happy with her results.

My most popular class is my two day Lash + Brow Lamination course. My class is set for Sundays and Mondays. If you are interested in one day over the other it is available as a single class. Listen, I have always taught my students that if you can execute a lift on the shortest lash, you can lift any lash. It’s all in your steps.

In this particular case, my bride to be had what I called “curtain lashes” and all she wanted was a natural curl so that her makeup artist could place false lashes on without any issues. But of course she had to have an extra layer of difficulty by having lashes that where comprised of many layers that fall outside their lash line. So I took my time laying down the rod making sure not to cover lashes, then I proceeded to lay down the back layer first, once I did that I was really able to see the lash line more clearly. In her case every lash counted. And it may not look that dramatic of a lift, it truly was a game changer for her.

Did you know that I also teach Brow Henna in person as well as online? It’s the perfect add on to your brow services.

Did you know it is not recommended to receive a brow lamination and henna brow in the same appointment? And the reason is , the henna is dehydration to the skin. That means there is more likelihood that your clients brows could become reactive , instead allow 48-72 hours before you apply henna or you can choose to tint instead.

One of the questions I get asked the most is do you have to have a certain length in lashes in order to get a Lash Lift? And the answer is , even the most unassuming lashes that have the shortest length can benefit from a lift.
The above example is a lash wrap on a size small flex rod. And it may not look it in this close up , but her lashes were teeny tiny. She was elated to say the least.

You guys! I mean… I got the privilege to lift this Disney Princess for my demo this past weekend. And we’ll I can’t get over how her lashes turned out. 🥹 a bit of advice for my new and inspired professionals. When looking for a trainer make sure you have seen their own work. Make sure what they are teaching you they can themselves execute. Do your research beauties, not all trainers are built the same. 🫶🏼

Did you know that when deciding a size for your client it is just as important to place your rod or shield correctly when measuring than the actually placement? Why you ask? Well for piece of mind of course. Imagine placing incorrectly, you will end up with possibly an underwhelming lift. Like that time you were so sure this lift was going to be amazing and it turned out to be a little lack luster. I teach all my students to place as if they were gluing them down so their choice of rod or shield is correct every time 😉

I love when a client comes in with their brow filled in because it gives me an opportunity to give them a better version of their brows. I used 6 and 5 min with pro fusion tint for the ultimate brown. No trimming was needed just a few brow hairs tweezed. She couldn’t have been happier.

Ok, real life situation. 2 months ago I was teaching a class and as usual models were brought on to practice on. But one particular model came in missing lashes on one of her eyes. And in stead of turning her away, I walked my student through the steps she would need to take if a client like our model would ever show up.

So this is what we found out about our model.
1. We asked her how she had lost her lashes
( she had pulled off a pair of falsies too hard and in turn pulled off her own )
2. How long have you been missing said lashes? ( it had been months by that point, and after some slight hesitation she lets us know she grows some, then looses them after trying to curl them with a lash curler )
3. After educating her that she was probably not growing her lashes because she kept pulling them out. ( by the end of the conversation, we had convinced her to no longer use a lash curler. And in the mean time it would hurt to lift her lashes in order to avoid reaching for a curler.

8 weeks later , and all I can say the proof is in the pudding. Our model retuned 2 classes later and I was able to fill in my current student of her past. I was so very thrilled with her results.

My students were using Pro Fusion, timing at a fine medium lash density.

What else would you have asked if she was your client?

I love teaching, and have been lucky enough to have been teaching exclusively for Elleebana since 2016. A couple of years ago I lost my classroom because I had to move salon locations. But just recently I was able to open up a classroom literally next door to our salon in Costa Mesa. This means more class dates coming your way, more one one ones for those who can’t make my set dates.

Ok look closely. I know the lighting is slightly off but one brow is way more irritated than the other. Can you tell which one???

So picture this , the biggest difference between lash and brow lamination is that the solution only touches the lashes in a leash lift, while the brow lam solution touches the stratum cornerman a.k.a the top layer of skin. So this leaves the skin to be exposed to a pretty high acidic level. So when I am teaching my team, or teaching my students I always make sure to go over the importance of a beautiful thin layer of protection. In this case the Elleebana Elle-Shield Protective Balm. Made of sweet almond oil and bees wax, made originally to prevent staining of the skin from lash and brow tinting, now also used as a form of deep protection for the skin around the laminated brow.

As a test study I applied a thin layer of the protective balm on one brow and nothing on the other. It’s pretty clear how the test study turned out.

So if you are wanting to give your clients less reaction wether it’s less heat to the skin or just plain less itch/ burn make sure to make it a step you always include in your brow laminations. 🫶🏼
