Three weeks ago Darcy and I were in in a major motor vehicle accident. We walked away, but a CT scan revealed something worrisome on my behalf. We are dealing with that day to day, as well as having lost our big ole Bertha the F150, who got us around to all her social engagements. This has been a very long and trying time for all of us, but we have to keep pushing forward.
Today we were honored to join Mardi Paws for a wonderful event and when I tell you Darcy and I needed this, we needed it. She suffered a minor tail injury in the wreck and is on the road to healing thanks to her amazing Dr. Borne at Hillside Veterinary Associates.
We have been supporting for years, but we are so thankful for the support they have shown us by still including Darcy in their Court.
Thank you to Hope Richard Photography for remembering Darcy is deaf and your understanding of her. She is the absolute best! We can't wait to see her Jester pictures.
Hopefully we will be back on the road soon to try out new restaurants and fun events. Until then thank you all for your support of Pet Friendly Northshore!
๐ฃCo-Captains of the Krewe, Bondi Rose & Queen London, were keeping all eyes on Grand Marshal "Neuty the Nutria" as he was preparing for his photo shoot at The Greenwood this afternoon!
Stay tuned for the Announcement of the 2024 Canine Court and their official portraits!!
The Greenwood, a Southern Hotel ~ Covington, Louisiana Property, was the perfect backdrop for the Meeting of the Court! And we're so thankful to Hope Richard Photography for snapping the official portraits of all the Royal Hairs! ๐๐๐
Iโve been watching this bird for a couple of weeks now strutting around the pond all day, every day. I thought he was fishing, dunking his head into the water constantly but Iโve also been finding tons of empty shells in the yard and now see there are hundreds all along the edge of the pond. I was curious about what type of bird he was and we did a little research and think it might be a Limpkin although it sounds like it would be rare for them to be in this area.
National Audubon Society description:
Looking like something between a crane and a rail, this odd wading bird has no close relatives. It is widespread in the American tropics, but enters our area only in Florida and southern Georgia โ only where it can satisfy its dietary requirement for a certain fresh-water snail. Mostly solitary, Limpkins may be overlooked as they stalk about in marshes and swamps; they draw attention with their piercing banshee wails, often heard at dawn or at night.
They definitely blend into the background but I have heard the crazy wails and it definitely gets your attention. I saw three of them patrolling the edges yesterday and they are fun to watch. The weather has been awful here with heavy rains and fog this morning but I tried to get some pics of him during his early morning hunt. Will try to get a video too once the weather clears a bit.
If anyone knows an avid birdwatcher please share to see if we can confirm what type of bird he is.
โTis the Season ๐โ๏ธ๐ธ๐โ๏ธ๐ฅ๐โ๏ธ๐ฅ

Jekyll IslandโGeorgia stateโs smallest barrier islandโis a narrow sediment deposit that runs along the coastline. The unique geography of Jekyll Island has given rise to a lovely and surreal beach that doubles as a graveyard for trees.
Picture this: gnarly pine and oak trees litter a desolate beach, standing like twisted sculptures in front of a picturesque coast. Some of the trees remain fully exposed and some appear to emerge from the depths of the sand. Driftwood beach is a sight to behold, looking like a veritable graveyard for sun-bleached trees.
According to the Driftwood Beach website, "this is due to the north end of the island slowly eroding away and being deposited on the south end of the island." In other words, the eroded soil became increasingly unable to support the trees, which then fell and decayed gradually over time, creating the beautiful and otherworldly sun-bleached formations of Driftwood Beach seen today.
