My one and only student passed his barber exam! Aiden is officially a licensed barber now! For all the people that supported me when I had the Illuminating Styles Barber Academy I thank you! To all that thought I couldn't, and refused to work with me. Look at the proof of how many young people you hindered from getting a career, building the economy, and boosting the self esteem of so many patrons that need professional haircuts in the Waynesboro, Stanton, Fishersville area! Challenge is good only when it is necessary!

I'm so disappointed that the 1st back to school event@ Kate Collins Middle School was this past Sunday ( they do a second event this coming Sunday). I didn't get an invite. Didn't even know it was taking place. When I heard of how many kids couldn't get a haircut because there was only 2 people cutting hair, it broke my heart. I brought the idea with me from my church in Baton Rouge here to Waynesboro. I thought it would be so nice to lift the confidence of the local kids by sending them to school with nice haircuts. I've kept the tradition going for 8yrs. This year I'd decided to help others and not have my event because I am truly disappointed. I'm disappointed that something that was wonderful for the local kids was used to separate them! The event has become a competition amongst locals. Competing for likes and applause!!! Whatever happened to wanting to see someone happy, doing something kind because it just feels good to see a smile on someone else's face? As Barbers and Hairstylist we should be able to donate 1 day of service to give back to the community that patronize us and provide us with continuous support. I've watched the event planners SEPARATE ALL THE VOLUNTEERS, BARBERS, DONORS, and this has caused DISAPPOINTED KIDS!!! This event was great at first, but now? All because everyone wanted a spotlight instead of being able to work together! I've always allowed people to advertise, pass out flyers, coupons, any advertising their business had. I didn't want a spotlight on me, I wanted the kids to be happy. That was my only purpose.. I have worked hours upon hours, year after year for kids that were complete strangers to me. I've seen many return over the years. But I just want to say, if you take it upon yourself to interrupt a good thing for kids, just to take advantage of the moment and now you have no interest... did you ever have kids best interest in your heart? The school is for teaching, they support the kids with education. Hair is our career, we should be on the front line giving them what talent God has placed upon us.. I feed my family with my hands, God has blessed me to do so and I will continue. He has blessed me to teach many things in this industry to people who won't even speak to me now. He continues to bless me even when I don't understand... I will continue letting him lead me. So this Sunday I will be working at the last Kate Collins Middle School back to school event WITHOUT AN INVITE!!! I'm gonna do what I know how to do best, SHOW UP AND SHOW OUT!😁 I'll look forward to seeing all the little kiddos there 😊
