Do you have lower back and/or hip pain? One possible culprit is the PSOAS! Here is a quick, helpful, self-test to determine if your Psoas is tight. 😊
I post a lot about adhesions and what to do about them. But how do we avoid them? Adhesions, aside from the surgical variety, typically form as an adaptation to prolonged, excessive mechanical stresses such as tension, friction, and compression. Inflammation can often lead to adhesion as well. These stresses lead to reduced circulation which leads to the laying down of additional tissue for reinforcement. Whatever stresses may be involved, two things are necessary to allow adhesions to really happen; limited motion and limited circulation. If you keep an area moving regularly, that not only limits the ability of adhesions to develop, but also helps maintain circulation to the area. This won't do much for adhesions you already have, but it can prevent the ones you don't.
A subluxated long-head biceps tendon is a common contributor to shoulder pain. It can be minor or major, intermittent or constant. Don't wait to get it addressed. Over time, the tendon can become so inflamed and enlarged that it CAN'T go back in its groove.

I occasionally hear from clients “I’ve never had a massage like this before.” Or “This massage is different from the deep tissue massages I’ve had in the past.” This is because my approach is not a typical “deep tissue massage.” It’s not a massage with harder pressure. My technique is closer described as Neuromuscular Massage.
What does that mean? What’s the difference between deep tissue massage and Neuromuscular massage?
This may help 👇🏼
Deep Tissue massage versus Neuromuscular Therapy
"How is Neuromuscular Massage different from Deep Tissue Massage?
As the name suggests, “Deep Tissue Massage” is a form of massage that works the general muscle tissue, accessing deeper layers of tissue. The treatment is usually listed on a resort or day spa menu, and described as a massage that is deep in pressure, in comparison with a lighter Swedish Massage. This is not necessarily the case as there are many massage modalities that access deeper layers of tissue without being deeper in pressure (DNM is one such modalitiy). Deep Tissue massages in a spa setting are usually full-body treatments with emphasis on a few bothersome areas, with relaxation of muscle being the goal."
Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is a specialized form of manual therapy that corrects pain and dysfunction by treating trigger points, muscle adhesions, and fascial (connective tissue) patterns. These trigger points, adhesions and fascial patterns can form due to a specific trauma, postural pattern, or series of repetitive movements. Neuromuscular Therapy sessions utilize precise treatment protocols to correct these patterns by releasing tight fascia, palpating and decreasing trigger points in tight bands of muscle and releasing areas of stuck muscle in an effective and efficient manner. The muscular areas of pain, and the surrounding muscles that are affected due to biomechanics and compensation for the primary pain are treated using these protocols. Pressure used during the treatment is based on the client’s pain threshold – “no pain, no gain” is NOT the motto, which is a very common misconception in the massage therapy world. I ask the client to provide feedback on the sensitivity of trigger points and tissue, with a pain scale of 1-10. We are always wanting the number to begin *decreasing* as we begin to address each trigger point, with the goal of "release". If the tissue starts to tighten up in response to the pain (increase in scale number) it is counterproductive, and inappropriate for achieving the client’s goals. 🙂
Each case is different. Each person is different. Which means my approach may be different for everyone. However, the end goal will always be to help the client to feel 'UNTETHERED'. 🙌🏼😌
I hope this explanation helps! 💗☺️
🚨I have a couple spots that just opened❗️
Message me now to book! They go fast! 🏃🏻♀️😊
Pretending he doesn’t know it’s my day off. 🤨😅🐾
🚨WARNING- HUMAN ANATOMY VISUAL🚨
Who’s still foam rolling their IT Band? 🙅♀️
All ITBs are tight. They are supposed to be. 🤷🏼♀️ You can’t lengthen them. Now the fascia of the quad, hamstrings and glutes do have an effect on the fascial tension of the ITB. Working on releasing chronic tension in the TFL, Vastus lateralis (quad), Gluteus Maximus and other surrounding hip muscles is a good place to start, if that area is feeling “tight”. 🙂💪
🙌🏼 😌
Happy New Year to my most amazing clients, as well as future clients! 💫☺️ I always brag about how lucky I am to have the best clients. It's honestly true. I know when I'm looking forward to going to work, that I am truly surrounded by amazing people. 🙌🏼 You have made this past year the absolute BEST year for me and my family, and for that I am beyond grateful. I am blown away by all of the recommendations and referrals, which have kept me busy all year with very little need to even advertise. I appreciate that so much. THANK YOU!!! 🙏❤️☺️
As many of you know, I have recently moved to La Porte. This changed things up a bit from a business perspective, however so far it's been working pretty well.🤞🏼I still travel to (mainly) Lowell/Crown Point (and the surrounding area) however the number of days a month are limited. I do full days in one area versus several days in multiple areas. Which is why I encourage all of you to BOOK AHEAD, so that I can always have a spot for you! ☺️ I hope to continue to see all of you on a regular basis!
And finally, the blah part. 🥱 Standard annual Inflation/price increase for 2023. No worries! Not by much! 😉 Only $5 increase per session. I feel I offer a very therapeutic massage, and with no travel fees, as well as free add-on's (cupping, hot stones.. etc), it's fair. I hope you feel the same. 🙂
The new prices are as follows..
60 minutes - $85
90 minutes- $115
120 minutes - $150
**PLEASE NOTE**
These prices won't go into effect until FEBRUARY 1, 2023. If you've purchased gift certificates prior to increase, no worries, that price remains the same. 🙂
Please also note, for clients aged 65 years and older, there will be no increase. Prices remain the same! 😊
If you have any comments, questions or concerns, I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to send me a message.
Wishing every one of you the most amazing 2023! Wishing you good health, love and prosperity, in all the days ahead! 💫🙌🏼☺️
Do you have one? I have one only on the right side. 🙂
The palmaris longus is a wrist flexor and weak elbow flexor that attaches to the medial elbow and can play a role in golfer's elbow. Not everyone HAS a palmaris longus, however. Here's a test you can to do check. it's called Schaeffer's test. Touch your little finger and thumb together then flex your wrist. If you see a single tendon popping out at you, you have a palmaris longus. If you don't, you don't. Some have it on one side and not the other. I don't have one on either side.
Attention LOWELL area! 🚨
I have a couple last minute openings available! Message me right away to book! ☺️
Did you know that cupping can be added to your 90 minute (and up) session at no additional charge? 😊 Cupping feels amazing! It helps to loosen up and stretch the deep facia layers and muscles, stimulating blood flow to the area, while helping to reduce pain, and increase mobility.
Message me today if you’re ready to give it a try! 🙌🏼
🚨 I have a couple openings still available for Tuesday 12/27, for Lowell/Crown Point area. Morning and afternoon availability.
I’m also currently booking for January‼️
Message me today and get in the books! Appointments fill up fast❣️😊
