Being able to utilize an "and statement" allows us the ability to automatically validate the existence of our emotion. Imagine a world of duplicity of emotion and not being required to choose one. For example this may look like my child telling me a story of their friend picking on them, which sparks a feeling of anger inside me. Having the emotional awareness to use the and statement gives me the power to feel frustrated and calm in order to listen to their story, actions, and plan. Being able to validate the existence of my frustration allows me to realize my bias and not project those onto the child until I can evaluate the whole situation.
Having autonomy in our emotions within relationships can be quite a beautiful thing. Imagine a world where I'm free to sit with you and hold space for you instead of the obligation to fix you or give the right advice. Breaking the cycle of codependency is necessary, but cannot be perfect.

âšī¸đŋ SETTING BOUNDARIES WITH A NARCISSIST |
Dealing with a narcissist can be an emotionally draining and challenging experience. Narcissists often disregard personal boundaries, manipulate others to get their way, and leave their victims feeling powerless. However, by understanding the importance of setting boundaries and implementing effective strategies, you can protect yourself from narcissistic abuse and regain control over your life.
The first step in setting boundaries with a narcissist is to recognize their behavior patterns. Narcissists often exhibit an inflated sense of self-importance, a lack of empathy, and a constant need for admiration. They may also use manipulation tactics such as gaslighting, guilt-tripping, or love-bombing to control others.

You're worth it
Complex trauma survivors may have become so used to discord, chaos, and constant pain that experiencing safety in their lives and relationships might feel threatening to them.
This can lead to survivors "repeating the cycle" of trauma by gravitating towards people, jobs, or experiences that feel familiar to them.
