What we made from the yummies in last week's produce box from Parsons Farm on Armory RD in Dagsboro:

The sweetest corn-on-the-cob, delicious whipped sweet potatos, fresh tomato cobbler, and the best strawberry pie using the recipe from the old Shoney's Restaurant. We still have lettuce, carrots and a green pepper to use yet. More info on the produce boxes at http://www.parsonsfarmsproduce.com/ and

Thank you to our wonderful customers for letting Petals and Treasures share in your celebrations over the last few weeks. You allowed us to send your thoughts and feelings to your loved ones when you couldn't be with them to celebrate Easter, Birthdays, Anniversaries, and Sympathies during this quarantine period. We hope you all remain safe and healthy.

We are open for a little while this morning and we're making local deliveries and have back porch pick-up at the shop. Let us help you remind someone how much they mean to you.

We will reopen Tuesday at noon with a delivery of fresh flowers.

Thank you to our wonderful customers for an incredible Easter week. We appreciate you shopping with us and supporting small & local businesses. We couldn't be anymore grateful!

We are trying to do our part sopporting our fellow small businesses throughout Sussex county. We've done curbside pickup at various local restaurants and repackaged into tupperware. We have many delious meals to look forward to. A shout out to Dagsboro Days coffee shop for their pick-up specials. Keep an eye out on their FB page. This week we got one of their special treat boxes with a homemade donut, cinnamon roll, chocolate chunk cookie, 2 scones and a loaf of their raisin nut bread. Also, visit the new creamy in Milville. IAW Carney's new rule for ice cream shops, Agape Creamery on Atlantic Ave has setup drive thru service. Their ice cream is delicious and so many interesting flavors. The black raspberry is full of big fresh berries and their cookies and cream is blended with chunks of their fresh baked cookies. Yum!

Wishing everyone a blessed Easter. It's a beautiful day go be outside in the garden, taking a walk or just sitting on the porch.

Carney orders shut down of nonessential businesses
Starting March 24, residents cautioned to stay home

Delaware shut down all nonessential business and activities in the state starting 8 a.m. Tuesday, March 24, and ordered residents to stay at home whenever possible. The order will remain in effect until May 15 or until the public health threat is eliminated.

“This was not an easy decision, but it’s the right decision to protect the safety of Delawareans and Delaware families,” said Gov. John Carney. “If you have any questions about whether you should be staying home or going out, stay home. Go to work, and go straight back home. If you don't need food or other essential items, stay home.”

Delaware employers who have questions about the closure can call 302-577-8477 or email [email protected].

Carney said leaving home is allowed for essential activities such as getting groceries, picking up a prescription, going to a doctor, or other activities essential to one’s health or the health and well being of family members and pets.

Delawareans may also engage in outdoor activity, but must adhere to social distancing guidelines.

The order requires essential businesses to implement flexible and nonpunitive sick leave policies for their employees.

Essential business allowed to stay open include: newspapers, radio and television companies; construction companies; agricultural; manufacturing; grocery stores, specialty food stores, and beer, wine and liquor stores; doctor’s offices and hospitals; air, rail, water and truck transportation. Restaurants and eateries remain open for delivery and take-out only.

“We’re acting with urgency to prevent a spike in coronavirus cases that could overwhelm our hospital system,” said Carney. “Delawareans cannot go out in public unnecessarily. Wash your hands and disinfect surfaces frequently. Essential businesses that remain open must provide easy access to hand washing stations or sanitizer, enforce social distancing, and provide flexible sick leave policies for their employees. That will reduce our risk and help keep all Delawareans healthy. We’ll get through this, but we all need to pitch in and take this threat seriously.”

Carney said in an earlier interview that he was prepared for stricter measures after talking with governors in neighboring states who have instituted stringent closures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

On March 21, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy banned public gatherings of any size and ordered all nonessential businesses to close. Those who violate his order could face prosecution. Supermarkets, gas stations, pharmacies and other businesses remain open.

Pennsylvania closed all businesses March 19 that are not considered life sustaining, and violators also face prosecution

So, as small business owners ourselves we are trying to support local small businesses during all this weirdness going on.

Yesterday we picked up Old Bay egg salad sandwhich, chicken salad platter and 2 little chocolate cherry cake bombs from Kristina's Kitchen on Atlantic Ave in Millville. We could not have met a nicer couple and our salads were delicious and the cake bombs were a perfect bite of sweetness! Strongly suggest our locals stop by Kristina's Kitchen!

Another of our favorite small businesses is The Milton Theater in Milton (😁) and they have had to go dark which is sad for us as well as them. We love all the fantastic talent they bring through town! The arts are usually the first to suffer! To help offset their closing and to not let product expire before they are able to reopen, they announced a sale on Facebook of their in stock wines, beers, water, soda and snacks at great prices, so we stopped by there and picked up a few bottles of wine & beer, a case of water for $5 and some snacks to get us through. Keep an eye on their page to take advantage of useful self-quarantine items! Hmmmm, I might need more wine!

The loss of our spring bridal business, sympathy/funeral flowers, and likely prom flowers is definitely a deep hurt to us AND we appreciate, from the bottoms of hearts, all the daily local orders you are placing with us! We love our customers!

We are currently in the shop on limited daily hours in an effort to both serve our customers and save on overhead during this time. As long as we are allowed to remain open, and as long a we can obtain stock, Petals & Treasures will be open 10-2 Tues- Fri, 9-12 Sat, and closed Sun & Mon. The shop phones are forwarded to our personal cell phone so that we can still speak with our customers, we are delivering to homes, and we can make arrangements if you need to stop by the shop for pickup.

Today's shop small biz is a stop at 4 Brothers Pizza & Grill on Zion Church Rd in Frankford. Their carryout meal deal is 2 slices & a drink for $5. We took advantage of Dagsboro Days Coffee Shop's curbside pickup this morning for coffee, a scone, and a cinnamon roll.

Everyone, stay healthy and stay safe. And, remember the kids WILL eventually go back to school!

We get to meet so many talented people! Thank you to Jen from Baked Sweetness By Jen (find her on Facebook, twitter & bakedsweetness.com) for crafting this adorable pug birthday cake that was also delicious and to Aunt Paula's Cookies for baking and decorating the cutest pug cookies! Paula has come up with the perfect cookie recipe, delicious, not too sweet, perfect texture and not too crumbly. Along with our bright bouquet, the cake & cookies were perfect to wish Tami Matthews a Happy 50th!

Petals & Treasures carries Aunt Paula's cookies in our shop and we can put you in touch with Jen or Paula so you can order something special for your event!
