Why I block the suprascapular nerve in FRONT.....medial to the coracoid....and not in BACK at the Spinoglenoid notch. Useful for surgery and in office procedures like shoulder hydrodilation (eg. frozen shoulder), calcific barbotage, etc. This self playing movie isn't narrated...pretty self explanatory but if there is desire for narration I will 😊. Bottom line: blocking the nerve "upstream" or more anteriorly results in more coverage and a better block! Try it.

Last real world #prp evaluation in clinic today! We are shutting down #regenerativemedicine for the day...time to go operate :) For this last patient we drew 60cc of blood to maker LP-PRP (note the WBC did not change despite the 5.5x increase in platelet concentration). We got 6cc of PRP at a count of 1493 making the dose right at 9 Billion platelets for a knee OA injection. Also note that the RBCs were removed and the Lymphocytes went up, granulocytes down, and monocytes up.

Spoiler alert: PRP does not replace the need for surgery for this intra-articular tendon tear/detachment. #regenerativemedicine continues to grow within #orthopedics but still can't replace surgery for many conditions. With mounting registry data, we are able to tell patients and their families about how long a PRP injection might help with their shoulder pain/function. But surgery is still the gold standard for anyone who still has pain or dysfunction with a type 2 SLAP lesion.
