Judging yesterday for AMTA with Hockaday legends Carmen Doubrava and Mona Rejino. We had fun πΉπ
Had fun judging with my sweet grandmother, Linda Secor, at the FWMTA jazz festival this past weekend πΉπ
Had a blast this weekend at Steinway Hall Dallas! Students showcased their pieces and performed and recorded on the Steinway Spirio Concert Grand. Thank you students for sharing your hard work and talent! And a huge thank you to Otis Gray and Steinway Hall Dallas for allowing us to use your amazing space.
My student, Ruslan, was kind enough to record himself playing Nuvole Bianche by Ludovico Einaudi. Ruslan is a 34 year old beginner student who had never touched a piano until a little over a year ago. This is such a great example for all beginner adults that if you put in the practice time then you can accomplish anything! Thanks for sharing, Ruslan :)
Had a fun time finishing the fall semester with Luke and Elianna yesterday! They performed a Jingle Bells duet at the end of their lesson and it was too cute for words πΆπΉ Happy Holidays to everyone and a reminder that lessons resume on Monday January 4th!
One of my favorite duos, Jack and Oliver, practicing their piano guild pieces ππΉ
One of yesterdayβs virtual guild performers. This is Sam performing Avalanche by Stephen Heller πΉ π
Congratulations to all of the students who performed at the Winter Guild today! It was a delightful time celebrating everyoneβs hard work and enjoying the musical performances. Thank you parents for all of your support! I couldnβt do it without you. Please send me your pictures from today so I can post everyone ππΉ

RMTA spring theory medals are in! Congrats Thomas on a perfect score and gold medal π ππ½
Friday Feature: A jazzy take on a Beethoven classic. Thank you, Alice!
Feature of the Day: My wonderful student, Oliver, got his brand new piano today! The very first time I met Oliver, he told me he wanted to learn how to play Bohemian Rhapsody. Within 6 months and no previous piano experience, he had learned and memorized the entire piece. Oliver is a great example of when you put your mind to something and put in the work- you can accomplish anything :) Next up on our list - Rocket Man by Elton John ππΉπ
Feature of the Day: My sweet student, Chloe, text me her practice minutes yesterday. Her monthly total came out to 1020 minutes! Go Chloe!
Feature of the Day: Thank you Luke for sharing your War Chant!
While I have missed seeing everyone in person this past month, I have been blown away by the level of discipline and commitment everyone has shown towards their piano practice and online lessons. I've enjoyed receiving videos, texts, and pics from my students and parents and will be sharing them throughout the week :)
If you are looking for ways to fill your schedule, I'm currently offering additional lessons at 50% off. ($15/half-hour or $30/hour). This is a great way to reinforce practice strategies as well as advancing the learning process.
2020 Sonatina Festival was a success! Congrats Chloe, Natalie, Michael, and Thomas for performing and making a 1+! Extra shoutout to Chloe and Natalie for making their third 1+ and performing in the Honors Recital πΉπ
Duets can be a fun way to reinforce the necessity of a steady beat! This is Jack performing 'It's a Mystery' by Melody Bober.
Letβs talk Apps. Apps can be a great addition to your practice regime. One of my personal favorites, Piano Maestro, is excellent for sight reading and can also be used alongside many method book collections. Piano Maestro is a free app and can be used from beginner all the way to advanced level students. Please note that it only works on a tablet (not for phones).
βThe function of education is to teach one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education.β
