While I’m not completely against learning about vocal techniques online, I want to enlighten you on the advantages of working with a voice teacher one-on-one.

🎤 PERSONALIZED VOICE EXERCISES

Sure, you can find plenty of videos and readings about vocal techniques online, and some of them are great, but they are GENERIC and not TAILORED to your voice as an individual. A trained voice teacher can design exercises for your unique voice, and this is important because no two voices are the same. So, what works for you may not work for someone else and vice versa.

🎤 MODIFICATIONS

Let’s say you do find some great vocal exercises online. Who’s there to help you make sure you’re practicing them correctly or to watch for physical strain. What if that voice exercise feels uncomfortable or isn’t working out right for you? A trained voice teacher can modify vocal exercises for you to make sure you’re still achieving the same goal but in a more comfortable way and effective way.

🎤 ACCOUNTABILITY

In order to reach your singing goals, consistency is key! If you’ve mastered the skill of being consistent with your vocal exercises, that’s great! But if you have a hard time staying motivated or find it challenging to practice your exercises regularly, meeting with a voice teacher can help hold you accountable and reach your goals faster.

Lately, I’ve noticed that people have been mistakenly referring to me as a vocal coach. Please forgive me for not thoroughly explaining exactly what it is that I do as a VOICE TEAHER because I don’t want any potential student to be confused about what I do.

Here is a small list of what I’m equipped to help you achieve:

✅ Range extension
✅ Blending smoothly between registers
✅ Developing good posture
✅ Proper breath support
✅ Developing numerous techniques such as riffs, belting, legato, crescendo, vibrato, high and low notes, and much more!
✅ Applying healthy technique to repertoire

I DO NOT:

❌ Make musical cuts, arrangements, or accompany students on the piano during performances

❌ Focus heavily on performance aspects such as proper usage of mics, articulation, dynamics, accents, pacing a set, drawing in a crowd, or developing a personal artistic identity.

❌ Consider myself to be a highly-skilled pianist or teacher of music

Yes! There are times that our jobs as voice teachers and vocal coaches overlap, and the lines between the two can be blurred, but they are two different titles for a reason and people overtime began to use them simultaneously.
